I heard one of their ranking officers explain that it was meant to appeal to people's individuality or some BS like that. Having grown up around military personal and being involved in marketing, I think it's a bunch of boffo.

I think the number of people joining up is lower so they probably wanted to try to convince a different group of people that they would be valued as individuals. This new slogan... all I can think of is...yah, right.
