I am running the latest Windows 7, latest updates.

I am running FF3.0.11

Recently, the following happens:

I work with Firefox, read something or write a msg on a forum. EACH some minutes, my PC starts accessing the HD and it freezes up my browser - i have to wait about 20secs to be able to continue doing anything.

It happens all the time..IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN...#&%%!".

I already did scans with kaspersky and hijackthis which come up clean.

If i run a process monitor it LOOKS like its firefox accessing and doing something on with the fonts folder?

I am so *****ed right now i am about to uninstall FF. I cannot be productive when my PC has a break each few minutes and stops whatever it does.

By the way its a PC w/ 4 cores at 3.5Ghz..its not THE fastest ATM but its pretty high end (or was when i built it) I have 4 GB of memory. Its not swapping out the pagefile...but the result is about the same since it freezes the whole machine every time.

I already weeded out some FF addons and plugins to have less overhead...but it still happens.

EDIT: It was TWITTERFOX Add-On

Solved

Thanks for letting us know hope the add on is fixed for you soon so you can use it without that happening.

Another add on that eats ram for breakfast is Cooliris. Nice add on but a ram hog once opened. Easily makes firefox ram use go to 500 to 600 MB + though once closed it helps a little by dropping ram use to around 400 to 450 MB. Still not good enough though. Sure the add on is nice but that is horrible how it makes memory usage go up so high and doesn't even release it once cooliris is closed. You must restart firefox. I prefer not having to restart my browser if I can help it
