I would like to go do a 90 day tour and support our troops. I am a combat pistol and rifle shooter. My equipment is better than what is issued to most of our troops. Now all I need is a team to go with me.

They don't take mercenaries. They still shoot up their own uniformed men once in a while, you would last 5 minutes outthere wondering around with a rifle.

not true. dyncorp, MPRI, vinnel, cubic, brown & root are just some of the private companies that work for the us military in just about every conflict they are involved in, and some we never hear about.

Do any of you have a link to a merc company that I can look into? I am also a green belt in Kung Fu San Soo and have trained in other arts as well but most of my training is in weapons. Right now I am in manufacturing of equipment for military and law enforcement so I have all kinds of gear ready to go.

If you enlist now there is a good chance you will be able kill people in Iraq.

I bet those Kung Fu San Soo skills will come in handy over there. I doubt that the Iraqi Elite forces could handle it. Good luck Rambo.

It is a whole different ballgame when someone is shooting at you. Try and get into the CIA that would fit your skills perfectly.

It's guys like you that made me laugh when I was in the Army. The ones that thought they were so macho and thought they knew how to handle a weapon. There's a lot more to being deployed than being able to shoot a weapon. It's guys like you that used to piss their pants when things got scary.

Here's an idea: Why not join the Army or Marines and see how tough you really are?

The funny thing is that I have had guys shooting at me...Three times to be exact. That is why I started my training a long time ago. A white boy growing up in North Long Beach needed some extra skills. I am no rambo now just a guy that has fine tuned my skills in shooting and hand to hand combat. I dont believe in picking fights but I do believe in winning them. Do any of you Anand guys or gals participate in IDPA or IPSC?

Aren't you even a little bit fearful considering the reality of this Iraq situation? I am impressed with your "guts". It is beyond my wildest dreams of bravado to want to do what you seek to do. G. Gordon Liddy has nothing on you.

Ask yourself some compelling questions:

1. Do I have, or can I obtain enough food, water and ammo to survive for 90 days?

2. What would be my objective? Take random potshots at Iraqi civilians? Tick off some Kurds? Can I speak their language?

3. How am I gonna get out of there?

4. What happens if I take a 7.62 round? Who knows enough about IVs and battlefield medicine to treat me? Do I have a mask and MOPP gear in case the Iraqis really do have chemical rounds and use them?

Go see an Army or Marine Recruiter. If you are a high school grad with a clean record, tell him you want the Airborne enlistment option and select MOS 11X. I think USMC is 0311. Score well enough on the test, go to MEPPs and you'll get in.

I knew of guys in the 80s who left the Army and Marines, and engaged in "shoot 'em ups", as we called them. Some went to the CIA. Others went down to Africa and the Middle East for private ventures. The key was that all had military and combat experience. In otherwords, they proved that they could survive.

At what point in time will they need more men and women to serve than we already have in the service? Can we fight two wars at the moment? What is N. Korea starts something right now or what if another Arab nation decides to send in another large army to back up Sadam? Do we have enough people in the service to serve? To answer my own question we could always use a nuke or two....:-(

There are lots of neat jobs for people that can handle them, but, you have to have a track record in order to get into them. And the only way to get the track record is the military(not only the US military, but that is probably the best way). Join the Army/Marines/Navy/Air Force, get some experience, prove yourself, and get into Special Ops.

LOL. Nobody is really stopping you from going but your little pistol isn't gonna do anything when someone runs you over with a tank.

I read the thread title and thought you were joking and laughed. Then I saw you were serious and I was afraid.

The first thing that indicated you had know idea what you were talking about was the term 90 day tour. What happens after 90 days, you go home and go back to watching the war on TV? Your equpment is better than what is issued to most troops? Can you match an average of 18 moths of basic and specialized training devised over generations of American professional military experience for even the lowliest private in theatre today?? I don't think so. It's the equipment between your ears that truly makes a soldier and a warrior.

ARE YOU FT#$^&$& crazy? IDPA and IPSC??? Come on now, I would like to see you use your trick pistol crap in combat. Reminds me of a video tape I showed to some operators I was training recently. It was of a high speed IPDA shooter type from LAPD I believe. He was also a cop and was in a McDonalds one day when two bad guys decided to hold the place up. Well he was playing it cool until one of them decided to throw a round. So instead of drawing and engaging the threat in a tactical manner, he did what he had been doing in competitions for years. He raised his hands fully above his head for a good two seconds before putting his weapon into play. Damn lucky to be alive. The point is, and what I was trying to teach my trainee operators was that all that sh%^ you learn in your fancy competitons etc. does not mean jack in combat and will probably get you or someone else killed.

You need to slow down. How is your land navigation? Can you hump 20 miles with a 100+ lbs pack on your back with one boot that has the sole falling off it? How about camp out in tall grass and wake up with ticks all over your body and be prepared to continue on. Work effectively with a squad or platoon? Take orders, communicate in the chaos of battle? How is your field medicine. etc. etc.

You don't know crap. Knowing how to fight has almost no relation to knowing how to be a SOLDIER. If you want go join the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force. Otherwise put the copy of Soldier of Fortune down and grow up.

Why don't you give Ross Perot a jingle? If he signs up count me in too and I bet we could get Red Dawn and a few others!

i can command you from afar. I am well versed in military tactics, as I have been playing Command and Conquer: Generals for hours now.

Hi, I'd also like to join up for a short term. I don't have any precision weapons, but then again I don't need any. I have some brass knuckles that I'm deadly effective with. Have you ever seen someone take out a T-72 tank with a knife? Have you ever seen someone bring down a Mig-29 with a chinese star?

I'm not quite a one man army, but I am worth several divisions.

Dude, you live in CA and your equipment is better than what is issued? Felony Firearms possesion anyone?
I say BS!
Go join the Armed Forces and LEARN what it is they really teach in Basic Training.
It isn't the gun or the uniform that makes you a soldier/marine/airman/sailor. It's the training.
Quit watching the 80's flick "Iron Eagle Down".
You aren't going there and if you did manage to fly there with your "gear", (try getting your weapons onto a plane in this country without the right paperwork, etc) I'll bet you get mugged before you get out of the city and into the desert.
Then, they would strip you naked and shoot you with your own guns.
and laugh at you shitting yourself.
Try doing something constructive here at home.
