considering a movie costs about $10 for 2 hours of enjoyment and that the $14 they each spent for potentially many more hours of enjoyment maybe they do know the value of money 🙂

I just have a big problem with spending real cash for fake cash that could have just as easily have been acquired by enjoying themselves in the game as they try to accumulate it.

And with my kids, it's more like $40 for a movie 😉

Yeah but that takes time, and as you know, time=$. Also, what if they turn the 500K in gold around and make a profit in $? 😉

Heh, it's a hot deal to boot... You sure you didn't train them better than you think?

Umm....$28 for 500k is like paying $224 for 4 million.

Next time have 'em just use ebay😉

in first grade i got in trouble with my parents for spending 25 cents on a newspaper some kid was selling me. and no, im not old. 25 cents was still worth nothing when i was in 1st grade. my parents are just crazy.

If you wanted to really do something about it, find out the account name of the kids who "sold" your daughter the gold, then report them to Jagex (owners of Runescape). They just banned 992 accounts this week for violating rule 12 which states no Runescape items may be sold for real world money.

Of course... that could also take out your daughter's account as the was party to the deal...

Otherwise... bad father, bad father! $28 was too much to pay for that little gold!

Worse thing about it - the classmate was a girl!

Where did I go wrong? 🙁

teach them if they dont know the value of an item then dont buy it. then show them how to research the value. turn them into little Rossmen 😛

AHAHAHAHA! The fact that you're a CPA makes it even better!
9/10

🙁 I know and I teach them about the value of money all the time. Obviously, they haven't discerned the difference between real money and online, game money.

sometimes it's a hard difference to discern. they are both illusory and stored in large part as numbers in computers. but it's that whole legal tender thing that gives american money it's oomph. and the fact that the FRB network > game server.

completley unrelated but...
LOL...I love your sig =)
