Logitech SUCKS!!!
Their drivers SUCK!!!
OK. That is a bit of an over-reaction, but just wait until I till you my reasons.
*** RESAON #1 ***
Two years ago, I purchased a Cordless MX Duo keyboard. At that time, it was nearly their top-of-the-line cordless combo. I paid about $80 for mine in August of 2004. The hardware is great. Go check out the current download page for the drivers for this little item: no driver updates since 3/30/2004. Their special hot-keys do not even support Firefox, and the company cannot even be bothered to fix it! Driver page here:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/downl...oftware/US/EN,CRID=1796,contentid=6997 Note the complete lack of Firefox support. That makes one of the cool features of that keyboard completely useless.
I do understand that you eventually have to drop updating drivers for older products. But Firefox hit 1.0 only a few months after I purchased this $80 keyboard. For that expensive of a product, I would at least expect them to update drivers for a year after it is discontinued.
*** REASON #2 ***
I also purchased a Logitech QuickCam Chat about a year ago. I had just reformatted my XP box, and was trying to keep the user accounts at a "user" level and only nave one admin-level account (standard recommended security practices for XP). Well, the Logitech drivers for this device do NOT like working unless they have admin rights, as it was quite easy to get explorer to crash. Eventually I caved in and gave all users admin access, but I still resent the drivers from a supposedly top-notch company to miss amateurish stuff like this.
I will happily admit that they make nice hardware (except that the shiny faux-silver finish is wearing off of my cordless MX mouse), but their software people need to be horse-whipped.
