They start moving, the crying gets louder and your life ceases to exist. The little things like going out to eat and going to the movies are gone. But honestly, I dont think I'd trade it

Good luck

My life "began" when we had my son. Best thing that ever happened to me.

Congrats!

But, remember that a woman gives up half their brain with the birth of their first child in exchange for being right all the time. I'm sure the doctors do it to them.

Congrats! Boys are great...we've got 4 of them (oldest is 6...the last one was born just a few weeks ago). As for a gift, the idea of a massage was a good one - do remember that it will most likely be at least a month before she'll be able to lay on her stomach comfortably though...especially if she's breast feeding. The boobies stay sore for quite some time after birth (that has been my experience at least). Probably the nicest thing you could do for her is take care of the baby every now and then to give her some time to herself. As a new mom, it's easy to feel like you have this baby attached to you 24/7...it really can help reset the nerves to have just 20 or 30 minutes of peace and quiet.

Grats!!! So scheduled 4am and didn't come out till 1222am the next day... eek. C-Sections still require full-on labor?

She pushed for 2 hours before dr got fed up and sent her to OR. But it turned out he was in a weird position so would have ended up as a C-section anyway. And something like 35% of the babies at Cedars-Sinai are C-section.

Congratulations!

It's funny, you'll look at that picture a few months from now and you'll hardly recognize him. Kids change so fast; I can't believe mine's almost 1 year old!

JS80,

You have a good looking boy! I just came off shift from work and met another neonate. He was pretty ugly in comparison. Either you're a good photographer or you have a great looking kid. Congrats!

haha thanks...a lot of people mentioned that. And his big balls. Actually...all my guy friends noticed his "huge balls"... maybe they've never seen a newborn before. But then again that was my first reaction when he came out so...
