I made a bad purchase. what should I do?

I don't think you did. I was referring to one of the HSFs in the Anandtech review. The ACX fan is going to be more silent than the ones on the HSF that won the 340W heat load temperature comparison with maximum fan speed - the Reevan Okeanos. That is not necessarily a cooler I'd recommend, since it seems to me that they are leaning on fast, loud fans for performance. Put fast, loud fans on a D15 and it's gonna beat the Okeanos.

I trust the Duck enough to believe him when he says that relatively fast fans on his ACX got him better temps than the same fans did on a D14, and by a large-enough margin that the ACX probably would have beaten a D15 in the same setup. I have wondered exactly how the ACX accomplished such a feat, but now that I've looked at it a bit more, I might have some idea of why that is . . . regardless, I think it's a sleeper, and a good deal at the price. MacMall has it for like $50 shipped. I would love to see what it could do with a couple of 120x120x38mm Nidec Servo fans. Those things have m4d static pressure.

That ACX looked interesting to me, after what Duck said, I'd never tried one out.

Give er a go.
