About a year ago I bought a WD hard drive from newegg and filed a mail in rebate for it in the amount of $40 but I never got it and eventually I forgot about it. Today in the mail I got a letter from WD stating that due to the fault of the third party company that was handling the rebates I never received my check and it is now in the possession of WD. Now all I have to do is return the signed slip telling them where I want my check mailed and Ill get my $40. They also included a coupon for $20 off my next WD hard drive.

Big thumbs up to you WD! I always hear about people having to nag companies to get their rebates but I have never heard of a company going out of its way to give someone a rebate check.

Definitely a good way to keep customers!

I bought something from Newegg once, that included a rebate. You had to include the UPC from the retail box....but when I got the item, it was an OEM without a box!! 😕

I called Newegg's customer service, explained the situation, they checked it out real quick (while I was on the phone), then came back and told me they'd just credited my card for the value of the rebate, and apologized for the confusion.

Needless to say, I've been a regular customer ever since then! 🙂

word.

I pretty much only buy WD.

here at the lab, we've bought about 6 TB worth of WD hard drives in the previous 4 months 🙂

I love WD also. Great that they took care of you OP! 😀

I'm formatting one of my two new 640GB Blue drives from WD that I bought from Amazon on a hot deal ($38.51 shipped per drive)! 😀

My bro just bought one from the website like a 600gb one for like 80$ im like wow!
and great customer support BTW

I bought mostly WD drives for quite a while, then Seagate seemed to make the best drives. Now I'm back to WD after hearing a lot of bad stuff from Seagate in the past year or so.

Eh, to me it sounds like they screwed up royally but at least they followed through and fixed the problem.

WD are the best. Their return for faulty stuff (not that it fails often) is also the best. Seagate is hardcore with packaging.

Every company uses a third party for rebates. How did WD screw up 'royally' in this scenario when they went above and beyond what they were required to do by issuing the rebates plus a pretty hefty coupon? Sounds like you don't like WD for whatever reason and feel an obligation to be bitter. This is essentially the textbook definition of good customer service.

I used to hate WD. Their drives always died on me. But I gave them a second chance after a few years and they've been A-OK.

No, and you don't know the first thing about running a business or acting in a agent capacity so don't screw with me.

Though you are right that WD did everything they could to rectify the problem after it occurred.I'm not being bitter I'm simply stating that they screwed up as well as their agent.

yeah, i like WD too. i have two of their RAID drives in a... you guessed it, RAID. 🙂

plus, their stock has made me some money since i bought it last year.
