I told my budy that the 2500s were easy to OC but it seams that not all 2500s are created equal and that newegg.com is a good place to get good ones, how bad is the worst 2500 for OCing?

well my barton 2500 is quite the piece of poo! i thought overclocking was going bad because the powersupply wasnt doing too well with higher voltages, or even with default 1.65volts!
anyway, i was undervolting it a bit, but it turns out it cant do stock frequency on 1.55volts :'( when the voltages are relatively stable. to cut a long story short, i got a crappy chip! even though the stepping is AQXEA 0325 VPMW (65th of the batch too apparently which should have meant good)
suppose it was pre-determined when i noticed the chip colour was faded halfway through, OH WELL!!
edit: btw this was a retail chip![]()

I had alot of trouble yesterday with my Newegg week 27 retail Barton 2500XP. Once I got rid of the retail fan and heatsinc and replaced it with the huge copper one I bought last year I'm now running PRIME 95 for hours at 11x200 (3200XP speeds.) It took me HOURS to diagnose though as I reinstalled XP and bought a new power supply etc. The stock heatsinc/fan was my last item because so many others didn't have to mess with it according to the boards here. I bought this DDR3500 thinking I could go beyond that, but if I go even 5mhz beyond that the system is unstable again. I guess I shouldn't be disappointed but others are going 12x200 or 12.5 x 200 or 10x220 etc.
