Back when I worked at help desk we had some customer domains with them, and we were trying to consolidate with Enom and they gave us a LOT of grief trying to transfer out. Some of them they simply did not let us. Somehow they can get away with breaking ICANN rules because they are so big. That was my first experience with those assholes. They have very crooked ways of operating to ensure they don't lose customers.

Fast forward to recently when I won a domain in an auction. Unfortunately the auction site used Network Solutions. They immediately sold all my info to spammers and I was getting non stop phone calls the day the domain got transfered. I had to turn off my cell because even on mute the LCD was just constantly lit from the calls coming in. It was ridiculous. This lasted about a day or two. I still get the occasional one but it slowed down.

To make matters worse, they have a 60 day hold period so I was not able to transfer out the domain. I finally hit that 60 day period the other day. Most registrars will just tell you the authorization code so you can transfer out... oh but not them. No, they make you wait another 3 days to get the freaking code. Also they've been flooding my inbox with spam from the very beginning, it's just unbelievable. Thankfully the spam filter gets it. When I look at my spam filter it's all I see is spam from Network Solutions, trying to sell me SEO crap and all that.

I freaking hate those assholes, it's crazy how such a scammy and crooked company can remain in business. I can't wait to get that domain out of that scammy place once and for all.

Is it just me, or has anyone else ever had to deal with these guys?

Sounds like somebody didn't pay the privacy tax.. Er fine.. Uhm add on fee :D. The one time I had to transfer away from them was fairly painless but I don't know what kind of spam the registrant or owner might have been getting as a result because I was just helping with the transfer. Their costs are just way too out there. Found a good home for domains with Namesilo.

That's the other issue too because I bought through auction I had no option to apply whois privacy from the get go. And NS is not going to see a single dime from me so I don't want to pay for it only for the 60 days. I can't wait to get that damn authorization code so I can get my domain the hell out of there and on to Namecheap then I'll apply whois privacy.

And yeah their prices are outrageous I don't understand how anyone in their right mind with use them on purpose.
