Lists are key to getting shit done.

Daily lists and a yearly goal list.

You won't believe the power of just writing things down and getting them done before you do whatever it is you like to do.

This. My wife hasn't reached 40k either, and she has a doctorate and 90k in school loans (we are in our early 30's).

Several months ago there was an article on time, newsweek or cnn,,,, one of those sites about people overpaying for their college. The lady the article interviewed had over 100k in student loans, and was only getting a fine arts degree. The problem was, she wanted to go to the best ranked schools - she paid the price, and now its going to take her about 1/2 of her working career to pay off the loans.

Instead of going to a cheap school, she went for the expensive schools. The mindset was that a college education is worth every penny - but in a lot of cases, the degree is not worth the time or money invested.
