Kind of funny really. CompUSA came though on the deal but they clearly don't have a clue regarding how to conduct e-business. Very strange considering the size of the company.

At any rate, I'm happy.

Ed

I got the same email. I WANT MY RECYCLING FEE AND I WANT IT NOW DAMNIT!

left my comments previously (on pg 6 or 7)... week later, this monitor still kicks @ss. Good to see that Tom's Hardware got their hands on one, too.

I agree with prob about the OSD buttons... kind of stupid, but at least I haven't had to mess with them after initial setup.

deslow, hah, my buddy and i laughed at the American Senior comment

hes spanish so he read it as "america SENOR' tooo funny

anyhow yah, i recalled the idiot i delt with and said 'listen ive been to a forum, and many people HAVE received the ld90+ version instead of the ld90 so i want to go through with the deal and take the risk based on their user comments' he said he'd check to see if they were still available and he'd call me back. no call back at all, ive ALWAYS had to call him, what a piece of shit.

anyone returning this monitor by any chance? if so let me know cause i'd really like to purchase one since i have no chance of getting it in Canada.

thanks in advance.

My 10 year old just called me at work and asked "Can I open it!?!", so I guess it's arrived. I told him he could. Then I quick called back and said "Wait! What does it say on the box?" I wanted to be sure it wasn't the L70S that seems to be going around. Didn't know if jazzman had gotten around to putting it back in circulation. Got lucky.... he told me the box said L90D+. Cool..... maybe I'll take the afternoon off.......

Wow you guys are still getting yours? I've received mine, tried it out, called for my RMA number and will ship it back tomorrow.

Will they not let you return it to the store? Are they paying return shipping?

Not hot any more.

Egg has it down to $399 now linkage

With California tax and shipping ($12) that's $443.92. That's over $100 than this thread topic price, $340 shipped. I suppose you had to pay tax if you are in CA and got it from CompUSA, though.

As of this morn, New Egg has it at 399, its now down to 389, 401 shipped. The only thing that bugs me about this monitor according to specs is the low view angle and the 24-bit color. I'm a graphic designer and I know I'll be able to tell a diff.

I'm a graphic designer, and I think the color is fine. I'm quite happy with two, other than the feeling that I should have bought three of them. 😉

Well considering the fact its not listed on CompUSAs website anymore, meaning you cant get it for the 340 it was originally posted as....:disgust:

So, if this has 24 bit color, what's the next step up? 32 bit? Is the 24 bit inherent in the Samsung panel or in the electronics?

I want to ask, though. I'm looking at the Planar PX191 right now, had it almost 1.5 years and it's been my everyday monitor the whole time. It's 25 ms response time (they all were back then), far worse than the 8 ms for the Hyundai L90D+, but it's got better rated viewing angles:

Vertical Viewing Angle: 170 degrees
Horizontal Viewing Angle: 170 degrees

However, the truth is that the Planar looks better when I'm looking right at the screen perpendicularly. I don't know what they are talking about with 170 degrees, 135 degrees, etc. Could someone explain?

If I move my head to the side so that the line intersecting my eyeball and the screen comes off of perpendicular by around 25 degrees (my estimate) I start seeing some deterioration. The color starts altering very quickly at this point and the sharpness of text is definitely compromised. Of course, as that angle increases, these effects worsen dramatically. This Planar presumably has much better viewing angles, at least based on those specs. I seem to sit around 24 inches inches from the screen and necessarily some parts of the screen (i.e. the edges) are viewed at angles, not straight on like the center of the screen. That's just the physics of it. I have to think that anybody would notice some problems at the edges. There is no doubt that I'm having that problem right now with my Planar. Wouldn't it be worse with the Hyundai L90D+? Reason I ask is that I'm considering buying this for a dual screen setup.

I recommend anybody who bought this monitor (or any other!) download (free!) NEC/Mitsubishi Brightness Controller. I use it all the time with my other 19" LCD, a Planar. It works with any monitor, LCD or CRT. It lets you control your brightness with your mouse on a slider that pops up when you click a tray icon. A checkbox is there to turn it on and off. One of the best things about it is that it only affects general computer stuff. It has no affect on any video you are doing with your display. Generally, when video is turned up bright enough, the general computer stuff is too bright. That's the presumed main function of Brightness Controller, however even when not doing video, it's much easier to control brightness of general computer activity using this utility than adjusting the monitor itself (which I keep adjusted high enough for satisfactory video). You don't need an NEC or Mitsubishi monitor for this to work. It works with CRT's too. In fact, I found out about it because of my NEC 22" CRT (which is for sale, BTW!).

After 2 years or so they are still with version 1.0, but it works perfectly.

***For all you CompUSA buyers!!***
Did they charge your credit cards yet? I dont see it on my statement. I understand that most of the delays has been shipped now and I already got mine. I hope they lost my info so I can get this LCD for free!! How do you do a stop payment?! hahahaha

CompUSA finally charged my card after sending me the wrong monitor.. but they surprised me by crediting me exactly 14 days after they got the RMAd monitor... they still suck.. so I went with NewEgg for 369.99 w/ free shipping.
