Hyundai drift car is.....VQ powered?

I've always thought Formula D would be more entertaining if half of these cars weren't just bodies of stock cars, the Scion tC is about as close to a street vehicle as a NASCAR vehicle.

The Scion tC uses a lightly modified NASCAR engine.

What I've wondered about, is why drifting seems to be an import centric thing from a culture standpoint. It's not like sprint cars don't drift 2/3rds of the time, nor are V8 RWD cars not intrinsically good for doing it. Notably, Rhys (the driver of the car in the article) won the championship in 2005 in a GTO.

Those Hyundai's are so ugly though. I'm getting sick of hearing about them in fact.

BTW-I'm going to Long Beach this weekend so I'll be sure to point out to anyone who is blabbing about the Hyundai that it has a Nissan engine in it. 😛

Epic fail.

I am also getting sick of hearing about the Genesis, it's fast becoming if not already become a cliche. Especially considering most of us here have never, and in fact never will, drive one. Because, well it's a Hyundai, regardless of what we read in magazines.

I am sick of the Genesis Coupe too. They should have called it the Generic Coupe 🙂
Seriously, this is what a Kirkland Signature RWD coupe at Costco would look like. Nothing wrong with it, just not very aspirational. You drop 5 grand more on a similar G35, at least you feel like you've made it in life somewhat. You get the Genesis, and basically when all is said and done, you are driving a Hyundai. Your brain is telling you it has all the right ingredients, but your palate just doesn't like it.

Only if you feel about cars same way you feel about water.
