hypothetical situation

Would butter help to get it out? Any other household items to get the arm out without damaging the banister or arm?

this would be good info to know in case it ever really happened.

who else thinks this isn't hypothetical and is actually happening as he typed this?

if you were told this isn't hypothetical, would that encourage you to submit a solution?

A circular saw will do the trick.

as stated in the OP, no damage can be done to the arm or bannister. Or did you mean to use it as a wedge or for leverage somehow?

If my arms are stuck in a bannister and someone comes at me with KY, they better hope I never get free.

I would use something that has NO water in it, like Crisco (or some other brand of vegetable shortening). When you wipe it off the rails, they will be left nice and super shiny.

You do a good job of typing with one hand! 😀

im wondering how soon before his laptop battery runs out....

i think your only option now is to gnaw the arm off

you need a second person to gently pull apart the banister.......thats if they're thin enough. you probably only need a half inch or so to get ur arm out......or the hypothetical arm

If it went in, it should come out. HOWEVER, you need to determine the exact angle of the arm as it went in. More than likely, moving to the center of two anchor points will allow the most flex of the bannister.

Crude illustration:

---|-----------------|-------------------|---
........^......^
.........|......|- move arm to here, then try to flex out bannister
.........|
arm is stuck here
