Hypothetical Situation: Would you kill a cop?

Ok, say you've commited some kind of crime that will get you 20 years to life in prison with no chance of parole. You ARE guilty. You ARE a fugitive. And you're thrown into a situation in which a police officer has you cornered, and is alone. Would you kill him to escape? He's just doing his job, wanting to go home to his family at the end of the day, but if he arrests you, your life is over. You will spend the rest of your useful years in prison. What do you do?

I say no.

I saw something in Resevoir Dogs that kinda disturbed me, Buscemi was chatting with Mr. White about how they escape, one asks the other if they killed anyone and he responds " I don't know. A few cops." they other guys says "So no real people."

I'd think that killing a cop would be a heavier weight on one conscience than a bystander . . . cause the cop is basically doing a major selfless service just by being on the force . . . . and anyway, the law frowns harder on killing cops than killing bystanders.

I wouldn't kill a cop. Regardless of how you feel ethically, you'd be labeled a 'cop-killer'. Not a good thing, it'd being down many more cops who'd have itchy trigger fingers. Again, not a good thing.

I wouldn't, unless he did something to make me believe his intent was to kill me instead of apprehending me.

Either way your life is over.

To me, his threat to take me to jail for the rest of my life is just as real and frightening as him aiming a gun at me with the intent to pull the trigger. Basically, if it's me or him, even if 'him' is a cop, he's the one that's gotta go down.

And no, the cop is not bradruth, or I'd add an option for "sex him up real good."

Well, if I was audacious to do something that would land me in jail for 20 years to life (and was stupid enough to get caught), why not?

I tend to think of most cops as lesser morally than the average person..

But then again, almost every time I see them, they're doing something to abuse their position. I have met a few really good cops.. but for every good cop I've seen, there seems to be at least 3 bad ones.

It used to make me sad when I heard a cop or firefighter was killed in the line of duty.. now, I only really care about the firefighters.

Maybe I feel this way because I've experienced a night in jail.. I've experienced what it's like to be completely helpless against corrupt authority with no means to excercise my rights or reason. And if you think that good people never get thrown in jail, think again. I'm a good person. I'm a damn good person.. I just fear cops.

Hell no. And anyone that says yes is nuts and stupid.

...but if he arrests you, your life is over....

Your life was already over when you got caught committing that crime.

Now you have to give up and take the consequences like a real man.

You don't kill innocent people ever. You just don't. Now someone trying to kill me, or a loved one, yeah, but not someone just trying to do their job, especially a noble one.

Besides you won't really "get away" if you do will you? There will be more cops along to get you sooner or later.

I would in regards to the situation you have stated.
I would hestitate. Killing him would be the absolute last resort.
Maybe Id shoot him in the leg or arm/hand or something.
Then use good 'ole brute strength to knock him out.
Hopefully he wouldnt remember what happened.

20 years is a long time. Id imagine it would be even longer in Jail.
If you know what I mean.

i wouldnt kill unless my life was threatened, or a family member's life was threatened. I should quote firefly on this one tho "Preacher, isnt the bible against killing? Preacher: Yes, but its a bit fuzzy on kneecaping" (quote may be inaccurate, but close enough. btw, i wouldnt do something that would get me in such deep trouble in the first place

I guess you'd love to go to the Pound-me-in-the-ass Prison 😉

Absolutely not. First of all I'd never do anything to be getting 20 years or fleeing like a felon. Secondly, I'd only kill another human being if they were trying to kill me. So that leaves us with a corrupt cop, or I'm in Hollywood playing a part. Neither is likely to happen to me so no. I couldn't take the life of anyone unless they were trying to kill me or harm my family. Family includes my immediate family, my dog, and some of my cousins and aunt/uncles I hold dear to me. Oh, Grandparents too. Fvck with them and I simply don't care anymore I will hurt you.

I see no reason to kill someone unless they are doing the aforementioned.

This reminds me of the movie 'Heat' where Deniro tells Pacino he will not hesitate to take him down if cornered. But in the end he does hesitate and gets killed. I didn't like that ending.
If it is known to the police that you will not go to jail at all costs, then it then boils down to kill or be killed.

I'm sure you can find a loophole in the law or someone that screwed up the evidence or something so you can get off.

If you did something that could get you 20 years in prison, I'd say you weren't very useful in the first place.

And my anser is no. You get stiffer penalties for being a cop killer than if you killed some regular Joe.
