whethe ror not leather is hypoallergenic or not, it doe snot matter. Its primarily the case where the allergic reaction occrs.

Leather is WAY more likely to cause an allergic reaction than other compounds because it is an organic product, and thus has protein structures which can induce allergen sensitization. However, leather also has gone through a lot of processing to go from animal skin to leather. So, basically, you won't know if you are allergic to a particular type of leather unless you try it out. Obviously, that's a reliable, but undesirable method of finding out.

Nickel is the metal that causes a lot of allergic reactions. Stay away from that if you need to.

Titanium and stainless steel have very little allergic potential. Most plastics are pretty good too.

Gold, rhodium, iridium and platinum are metals that VERY RARELY react with the skin. Silver sometimes does.

Thanks for the info, but i need information about where i can find a watch with hypoallergenic backing. The band is no problem. I know that the band can cause an allergic reaction, but in this case, it does not matter because the person i am getting the watch for has worn cheap and expensive bands with no problems. The only problem has occured with the backing.
