does anyone else find the defrag in windows 98 hypnotic and addicting? watching the squares jump around and trying to predict what will move next? i can sit there watching it for several min. before i realize im sucked in. is this normal? ... or am i just going insane 😕
 
Be careful the little squares have a hidden message that only your subconscious sees.

Same here. Whats worse is Norton SpeedDisk 2002. Shows a much fuller map in a smaller space, so you can see things jump from one end of the disk to the other. Should be a screensaver 🙂

You should try PerfectDisk or Diskeeper...and no, you're not crazy by watching the little squares...I do the same thing with PerfectDisk!

I know what you mean about defragmenting - just so nicely bringing order to chaos. Graphically.
 
PerfectDisk rocks. Nice features and way faster than anything else I've tried, including Diskeeper.
 
PCTools 5.0, around 1988, was the most entertaining defrag. Running a defrag was very cool. Hard drives and computers were slow enough that you could literally watch individual blocks being moved back and forth. It'd say, "Copying Data Blockr.....Deleting Data Block......Compressing......etc." You could read each individual operation.

It was almost better than a TV soap opera.

It seems to be an enterprise product, though it says "Designed for Windows XP - Optimized." What does that mean anyway?

I'm curious to try it, but I feel my simple home-use PC may not be worthy.
