has anyone tried this method? I am a firm believer that hypnosis can cure things like addiction, etc.

yeah, that's right, you can sit around and lose fat if you eat LESS and stop unwanted cravings via hypnosis. But it comes as no surprise you would discard anything dealing with the human psyche (as you don't understand anything about it.)

Should know better than to ask weight loss/health advice on a forum filled with people who eat nothing but fast food and doritos and play computer games, then think if you hit the gym or run around the block twice a week, you'll lose weight. hah!

Cravings and anxiety-related eating can be linked to emotional issues. Also, since your olfactory area's receptors are so close to your hypothalamus, which plays a part in emotions, your smell has a great deal of power in linking your emotions and your eating habits. Obviously the psyche has some effect in these emotional eating sprees, but with will and good habits, these can be overcome just like any other negative habitual thing in life. Hypnosis would be for those that do not want to actually do the research, put the effort in, and get the job done legitimately. I believe it would appeal to the same population who do crash and fad dieting, which would make it just another easy-fix instead of the people actually putting the work in to get the desired results.

Let me translate for all you who are unfamiliar with CasioTech. What he is really asking is:

"Could a hypnotist make Tom Welling have sexual feelings for Danny Casio?"

Look, I know the guy is as popular as a turd in a swimming pool 'round here, but it is a legitimate topic for this forum IMO. Please remember to attack the post, not the poster. Most of the pile on is fairly good natured, but no need to be brutal.

So after undergoing hypnosis, are you simply going to eat less? Or diet and excercise correctly. Hypnosis might help those who can't control their cravings but it won't teach you how to properly lose weight :p

If I were you, I'd say "screw this" to expensive hypnotherapy and start drinking more water. It does wonders to control cravings. I'm an amateur hypnotist, and I've found that it works best for insomnia, not weight loss. If you insist on this as a 'magic bullet,' which I think would be a bad idea, do insist that the charlatan teach you a self-hypnosis ritual (counting backward from ten, reciting some uncommon piece of text, or something. When I need to make myself sleep, I picture unhooking my muscles like rubber bands). Hypnosis is most effective while you're in a trance state (from which it's easy to go to sleep), not afterward.
