HyperX Memory

How does this compare to Corsair at the same speeds. Basically just interested in o/c potential and I know that Corsair doesn't seem to have a whole helluva lot of headroom over the rated speed. Does the Kingston HyperX memory stick with Corsair's method of hand picking the chips and rating them at the (almost) highest speed they will go? Thanks.

There have been claims that the PC3000 Hyper-X stuff can do 200MHZ, but it's still luck. I would take a look at twinmos ram, DDR400 Cas 2.5 stuff seems to work at high timing stablily, and at $60 for a stick of 256MB its cheap.

Bought my HyperX PC3000 512MB sticks for $80 (under $90 now) and started running the @ 166FSB and they are now @ 188FSB 2-2-2-5 with no added v's ...They also make 3500 256MB sticks (5nans) that I've had @ 210FSB 2-2-2-5...prolly more but couldn't go any higher 😀...Twinmos is good RAM and cost lessr then Corsair (top dollar)but has 2.5 Cas

I have two sticks of the 512mb pc3000 that pass memtest @ 215 at stock voltage 😀 If I bump up the voltage it can do 2226....I think I can push the ram even farther...exept I get this tearing effect when I go above 220, I think its my motherboard...getting an 8rda soon so hopefully I can push it even farther

I'm biased since I use it, but I like Corsair better... Cas2 (2-2-2-6, DDR 1T) up to 200MHz FSB? You betcha!

🙂

very nice 🙂

What are your opinions on RAM from OCsystems. The ram is preatty cheap, and seems to be good. If any of you have had experiance with it, or have heard of it, tell me what you know.

Heres a link to the ram they sell, im looking specificaly at OCsystems brand ram..

no one saw my post or doesn't care?

ExcaliberPC has 256MB HyperX pc3500 for $70. right now. I just bought two. I was going to get the TwinMoss, but this HyperX is a sure thing.

Yeah, I am really happy with it. Working very well in my 8rda+, altho If I saw the 256mb pc3500 HyperX before I got the winbond, I would have jumped on that.
I hear it is real nice stuff.

But I saw a review that has the HyperX beating it when overclocked past PC-3500 speeds

here is a review of it

I like the part where the reviewer says that the HyperX blew past the Corsair. He then shows a very skewed graph where the bar for the HyperX is over twice as long as the Corsair; When in fact it is only about a one percent difference.:disgust:

A lot of review sites do that.

This is probably a dumb question but why does everyone rate the ram by the fsb speed caple of getting to rather than the actual ram speed.
I mean you can have 3 different ram speeds for 200fsb 400mhz, 533mhz or 300mhz depending on the cpu:mem devider 1:1, 3:4 or 4:3 respectively
Well i kinda already answered my question. It just makes since that it would have to be 400 as 300 is to low and 533 is to high. LOL

m1ke101,

you must have a REALLY good stick of pc3000 hyperX

i can't get mine stable @ 200 mhz 🙁 but it might be my motherboard...

what board are you using?

well.. at least it's running 2-2-2-6 @ 185 default vdimm
