Hyper X. What speeds?

I'm not sure if this will make sense.. I haven't slept for about 30 hours now..

My 3200 Hyper X didn't run stable at stock speeds @ 2.6 or 2.65 volts, but it seems okay at 2.7. Will this harm the RAM or motherboard (IC7), running at a higher voltage?

I read that lower timings = better overclocking. Even though it seems stable now, should I reduce it to 2.5/7/3/3? I'm going to be overclocking soon.

Thank you, and watch for the gnomes! :|

I run my HyperX pc3500 at 2.7V. I think that's plenty conservative. Cas 2-2-2-6 seems to be what they like.

I just ran 3DMark with the new RAM in. Went up almost 2000 points from my generic RAM 🙂

Alright, I'll keep it at 2.7.. Still unsure of the timings, since pel said lower timings but I read a thread that got better overall results with lower.. hmm..

Congratulations.
Test it for yourself by running 3DMark2001 with different timings.
To verify stabilty you can run 10 loops of memtest86. You should have no errors.

I had a 2.4C, 1GB Hyper-x PC3200, and an ABIT IC7 - the stuff really sucked. One DIMM would just give a checksum error and not work at all. The other would not run at spec and had to be underclocked. BAH!

Replaced with Corsair XMS3500.

I just built my friend his rig using some hyperX pc3200. ITs at default right now (not for long 😉 ) but its doing 5-2-2-2 at whatever default voltage the 8dra+ is

Pretty good i'd say (beats the crap outta my crucial pc2700 that is @ 166mhz 7-3-3-2.5 2.6v [i can't go any lower...the Asus automaticlally juices the chip 🙂 ] )

So I say its a safe right now...I wouldn't go any higher than 2.8 tho...and 2.8 even sounds like a strech to me
