I'm somewhat new to virtualization. Can someone explain to me what the difference is between Hyper-V that comes with Windows 10 Professional versus the free options such as Virtual PC?

AFAIK - Hyper-V will allow you to do more advanced stuff such as snapshots, virtual networking and the like if you want to create a virtual lab or domain and virtual pc or vmware player don't have those options.
