I right now cooling my i7-4930k with a Hyper 212 Evo but was consider replacing the cooler with an H100i. Core temps reach mid-60's during Prime 95 's small FFT test using my Hyper 212 Evo at stock clocks. I have a CM 690 II Adv. case but my cable management is not very neat. Do I need good cable management inside my case for an H100i or any of these dual fan liquid CPU coolers? Also is it harder to install the H100i than it is the Hyper 212 Evo? Also what are the chances of getting a leak for the H100i or the liquid inside it drying out?

1. Don't need much cable management though it never hurts to clean it up inside for the best air path possible for your fans.

2. It's both easier and harder to install the H100i than the Evo, the mounting system for the Hyper212 line is something I've never a been a fan of, a lot of better options out there and the mounting for the pump onto the CPU socket is pretty straightforward. Mounting the radiator with fans can get a bit annoying if you're mounting the fans between the rad because you have to balance holding the rad up with the fans while you try to get the screws aligned properly. With 2 people fair easy, solo it can get a bit annoying depending on the person and the size of the case.

3. Chances of a random leak springing up are fairly low to be honest, that being said don't work the tubing too much, it should be fairly obvious what the max you can turn it is. The H100i is a closed loop system, meaning it should never just magically run out of coolant inside unless there is a small leak somewhere. Now that being said the most common reason this cooler doesn't remain usable is that the pumps aren't the greatest out there and they do fail.

If you're not planning on overclocking, I think that temp is great for a stress test run and you only do a bit of gaming and other software. If you routinely have it maxed out (rendering and such) might help your peace of mind to upgrade, but I don't see it being entirely necessary for your situation.

If you're not going to overclock I don't see why you would get another cooler.

If you do plan on overclocking I would just advise a good air cooler. Thermalright Silver Arrow, Noctua NH-D14/15, Phanteks PH-14, Cryorig (or in short: one of those Big Dual Tower Coolers).

Only get H100 if you want highest possible oc and noise isn't an issue. Yes, leaks are very rare, but they do happen.

Your temps are good. Panning to OC?

I'm all over the map today with my own posts . . or threads. . . At the bottom of it -- "E" processor dreams.

So. OP has an IB-K "E" processor with a CM Hyper 212 EVO? that's a 130W TDP processor, and like DelMagico said -- seems like good temperatures.

OP has to be running at stock settings, but he didn't really say. I assume so.

Would be interesting to see what the thermals would be with a D14 and a mild overclock. Anandtech did a review of Haswell-E comparing to SB and IB E processor overclock potential. Both latter better than the former.

I'm guessing that a D14 or D15 would be adequate for OC'ing this IB E processor, though.

Also -- instead of starting another thread on this little nitpick, and it's been said many times before -- heatpipes are a "kind of" liquid cooling. They're just "a lot more air than water." Water and AiO are still "air" -- but a lot more water than air. Does that make sense? Two of the four food groups: Earth, Air, Fire, Water . . .

i own both and they cool the same model proc, i7-3770k's, here's the h100i:

and the hyper 212:

they both work great. the only preference for the h100i is air flow through the case as it run 2x gtx 780 ti's.

Did you record -- or do you remember -- average-of-cores peak temperature under the same stress-test for both coolers?

sorry, i've stress tested the 780's since they're on air, but as far as the procs are concerned i just relied on reviews which were adequate for both coolers. i do no oc'ing.

That explains it -- and that's OK. I was looking at AiO coolers such as yours, and I'm always consulting the reviews. Another member has a similar rig to mine, but has two water loops while I'm using the D14 with certain homespun enhancements. We compared some Prime95 runs, and it helped me put it in perspective. I was interested in the spread between the 212 and the H100.
