Hydrogen Peroxide as rocket fuel?

I just read an article over at space.com about a guy going to launch himself in a self made rocket using hydrogen peroxide as fuel. Apparently, you inject the HP into a canister that has a stack of silver screens. The HP reacts violently to the silver and instantly expands to 600 times its origanal volume. Kewl. Except he uses 90% HP,not the 3% you have under your sink. Man, I'd love to go into space. Maybe this is the ticket!!

The Germans used H2O2 in WWII for their rockets. It was called T Stoff.

"I don't know if you got an answer to your fuel question (I missed the begining of this thread) but T-Stoff was 80% Hydrogen Peroxide and C-Stoff was 57% Hydrazine hydrate, 30% Methanol and 13% water with
0.6g/l potassium-copper cyanate catalyst. My understanding is that the Hydrazine and catalyst caused a rapid decomposition of the Hydrogen Peroide into Oxygen, water, and heat and the Methanol burned in the presence of Oxygen and heat. I don't know about the Hydrazine (which is well know for being not real stable stuff), but concentrated Hydrogen Peroxide acts like acid if you get it on you (I used to work in a chemical plant that used it) and I believe that was resposible for a few dissolved Komet pilots. "

Very nasty to stuff to work with.

edit
HTP rockets

stuff to stoff.

<< drink a gallon of hydrogen peroxide, and then light ur fart. >>

Ummmm....

First you need to get past the first 3 ounces. 🙂

they also had experimental versions of uboats using hp🙂 don't need to surface to recharge batteries.. woulda been neat. but yea, they didn't do it cuz they were busy burning it in rockets.

The British had a sub powered by hydrogen peroxide. The HMS Explorer, I believe. She was known as HMS "Exploder".
