[HWC]AMD Launches Never Settle Forever Game Promo

Yep, gotta grab a ruler these days but I think it will be Ok in my 690 II (I dropped the lowest HDD bays to free up some space, i think it will fit at the lower PCI-E slot).

How long can AMD keep this up? They lost 74 million in Q2, seems they're killing margins and earnings for small gains in market share?

Looks to me like AMD knows what they're doing. This is the third Never Settle promo, after all. If they were losing as much as your astute financial analysis suggests, they probably would've stopped.

Where do you get upset?...I think its funny AMD needs to bundle games to sell their cards....

What an asinine way to look at added value to things people buy. Free games to play using that shiny new graphics card you just bought, fire whoever thought up that idea. 🙄

Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled derailing this into NV vs AMD financial performance, since a select few always make sure that's where these threads lead.

Serves me right for Craigslisting my 7850. Then again, the Never Settle deals definitely help me pick AMD GPUs over NVs...

^ I wouldn't bet on it, but I wouldn't bet against it.

You'd have until the end of the year to decide what to get, but as was mentioned all but one is so old they might as well be listed on good old games.

In order to know that you'd have to know how much this costs them. Do you know?

You must have found it funny too when NV was laying the smack down on HD5000 series with price/performance, overclocking and game bundles (Mafia 2, Just Cause 2, Cryostasis, Metro 2033) with its GTX460/470 lines?

If you go buy a car and you get free options thrown in, you find that funny too?

Considering you have the number and price/performance proposition quite tamed, which 7950 would you recommend getting right now?

The HIS 7950 is the one I'd get myself. It has a very good cooler. But that card is $245 + $4 shipping, making it $249. At that point I'd consider getting the Sapphire 7970 1Ghz for $290. If you are on a budget the HIS 7950 should be a solid deal and overclock well.

Bundles, to me, are always welcomed!

The new iteration bundle has a ton of flexibility to choose from but a little surprising there isn't any newer titles with this introduction like past bundle offerings.

The rewards are nice but the time-line is short considering it is named, Forever!

Particularly, liked the introduction of the reloaded bundles based on the new content offered!

All-in-all, wonderful to see these kind of bundle iterations with flexibility and potentially new content to raise even more awareness for Radeon, Gaming Evolved, PC gaming and bring value to gamers and the PC platform!

So let's get this straight: you are now upset AMD keeps lowering GPU prices and giving gamers choices of up to 3 free games they can bank up to December 31st? Bringing financials into it as usual. Worst case scenario, if this strategy fails, they can always release 20nm cards at $599 and you'll still complain that they are now overpriced.

You got that out of my concern for AMDs ability to continue on losing money quarter after quarter? 🙄

This assumes a company that has failed to turn a profit for over a year would somehow be incapable of doing it wrong, which is a self defeating thought process based on the aforementioned fact.

lol? Free games... quit complaining.

Yeah i was set on pretty much buying a gtx760 before November this year, then this bundle came up and for sure now its gonna be a 7870 or 7950.🙂

God if Amd somehow ends up putting BF4 on that list, wow is this gonna be the best time period to buy a new gpu and you would have to be a fool to buy a nvidia card at this point even tho i like the nvidia cards, pick 3 games godly awesomeness.:awe:

Balla just complains about everything AMD unless he can get a GTXx70 level card for $40 and it has 50% overclocking headroom. If you read ABT from time-to-time, Balla even admits he loves trolling our site to get a response from certain posters akin to poking a beehive. If AMD released a card faster than the Titan and costs half, he would call them desperate. If AMD released a card 50% faster than the Titan but priced it at $1,000, he'd call them greedy. No one still understands why he hasn't sold his 7950s and grabbed 2 760s instead.

Warning issued for callout.

The question remains: why does the revenue AMD makes/loses matter? You bring up finance in nearly every thread you post in, and it's almost always irrelevant to the topic (but you know that). I understand it's related to a GPU company, so it might possibly be related to some topics, but you've used and abused this particular strawman ... why should any of us here, discussing performance and games, care about the financial aspect outside of our own pocketbook?

Actually I was looking at it from a you need money to make better products standpoint. With AMD offering so much for nothing what are they going to use to fund the next cycle, and the one after that, good will from their fan base?

@RS If it's 20nm, yeah I'd call it a joke. The real laugh will be when you use $650/$1000 GPUs to push said product.

Luckily for us, the deals AMD makes for these games are not our problem.

Anyway, the point is, this is exciting news! AMD will not go bankrupt because of this. In fact, it gives them better rep in my book. In fact, they will stay afloat just to irk some of us (*cough).

Does anyone know when this bundle is available in europe? I spoke with a local retailer and they said they will participate in this action but not right now and they didn't know when the bundle is available in europe.

AMD has killer price/performance right now. But the market is always shifting and I wouldn't be surprised if NVIDIA finally moves the prices lower in the near future.

So nVidia has never bundled a game with their cards right? Oh wait they are bundling Metro Last Light, SC: Blacklist, and several others I don't remember right now, not to mention the countless others they have done before.

People who were going to buy AMD would buy regardless of a bundle and vice versa. People who are maybe unbiased and on the fence, this might push them to buy AMD. If mining wasn't a factor, I'd end up with either brand, and this kind of bundle might push me to buy AMD.

AMD has stolen a page from Nvidia's marketing book and it's been very effective. Nvidia did it for years and we heard endless arguments about how NV had a much better dev relations program (no doubt about it) and AMD needed to step up and get in the game.

As for the argument that AMD needs to bundle games to help sell hardware, well duh it's extra incentive to potential buyers that's why both Nvidia and AMD do it.
