HVR-2250 suddenly showing bars in HD recordings

I have had a Hauppauge HVR2250 for a few years and it has been fine but all of a sudden it has started recording garbage in the HD recordings but SD recordings are fine. I am trying to figure out if it is a problem with the card or whether something else in my system could be going. I see the same garbage while playing live tv through WMP so Im guessing its the card.

Any ideas of how to test this?

My tv is playing the same QAM channels fine so its not strictly the incoming signal, I have also tried having it record to differnt hdd's but that didnt help.

likely the capacitors on it are going bad. check with multimeter to see if any are completely dead. but even if all of them work it doesnt mean theyre good enough.

i think im having the same with mine thats about 4 years old... i dont get distorted video but i do get video lockups, especially when there is a poor antenna signal.

Yeah, I'm guessing that my card is dying so I started looking at a replacement. I would like the Ceton but don't want to bother with having to get a cablecard just to record QAM.

This morning I ran memtest and found that I have a bad stick of memory, pulled it and so far everytest I have made of my tuner card has come back with clean recordings.
