BTW, AFAIK, there is no "nozzle" for a gas furnace...a burner...sure, but no nozzle. Oil furnaces use nozzles.

okay, this might explain that. When talking to the PM she said her furnace filter change and safety check cost $205 ..she said “ nozzle” and that she has oil heat. I know ours is gas, not oil & it’s not electric heat based on the bills ( I would never rent a place here with electric heat,the bills would kill us) at any rate I think PM misspoke and said nozzle instead of burner

On a completely different note, and especially because of the medical issues and compromised immunity, I would be greatly concerned about a wet basement, mold and mildew growth, animal droppings and diseases, and breathing this in as things heat up. That is a huge health hazard.

sigh, we are but rents here and the costs of moving are not in our reach. Going to begin looking for senior housing waitlists as well as filters to use in our apartment

Senior housing is an excellent idea as long as you're ok hanging with Pliocene-genners. Here in NJ, your rent is based on your income not whatever the market will bear. My "ex" (gf) is in such a unit. It's on the small side but quite lovely and fairly modern.

Since it's govt run there are some downsides like one of the two elevators often being down and other various and sundry issues, but I don't really see that as much of a trade off. It's not like all regular landlords are especially responsive either.
