Yeah will be interesting to see when/if we can go back to our resort... Supposed to leave Tuesday, so hopefully airport etc all running by then but who knows how much damage this will do...

False.

It is the strongest "Pacific" hurricane but not the strongest of all hurricanes recorded. Take deep breaths, relax, we aren't in the middle of a Roland Emmerich movie.

True.
"Hurricane Patricia became the strongest storm ever measured on the planet early Friday"

So... I'm in Puerto Vallarta.... They evacuated us to a school a few miles inland... Going to be a hell of a night...

Dude, I thought you were half joking at first.

You might be lucky if there is an airport.

GL, and keep your head down.

Browsing ATOT on vacation. Holy crap you're vacationing wrong.

Seriously though stay safe.

Hah... I usually would agree but since I'm in a cement room with nothing else to do for 24+ hrs... Atot will have to do.. Not a ton of battery left thoigh

While I've never been through a Cat 5 storm, I have ridden out a Cat 3, or two. Not to mention a Typhoon, or two, as well.

I suspect that, other than boredom, you won't have a problem with the storm...

If you have problems, likely they will be after the storm.

For example, does the school where you are have a generator? Can it power the air conditioning? What is their water source? If they lose power, do they keep water? Can you take a shower?

Sounds like you have WiFi which is great. Can you recharge your devices? If so, I'd try to keep them topped off... I'd probably also try to locate an alternate source of water and food. Though, it sounds like you are in good shape. How many people are you sheltering with?

If you can still exit the building, I'd also check out the immediate local area. Should you lose power, a shady place outside after the storm would be nice to have...

My experience is that Hurricanes are like people. They can be unpredictable...

Best of luck,
Uno

Thanks for the tips... The area around the school is pretty poor/sketchy, but the school grounds are going to be locked down soon.... There may be a couple hundred people here? They brought in truckloads of food and water so I think we're OK for a while. I just found a power cable that'll work for my phone so hope to charge it soon after the owner is done with it

Don't forget to hold a Donald Trump rally

Confirmed, Weather Channel just said, "Strongest Hurricane on National Hurricane Center's record."

The Weather Channel also posted this.

While a number of typhoons in the western North Pacific have been stronger, Patricia is by far the strongest hurricane in any basin where the term "hurricane" applies to tropical cyclones

DERP.

Wow, 200mph. I was in Miami when Hurricane Andrew hit, and the highest recorded wind speed for that one was 175 or so mph. 25mph doesn't SOUND much faster, but it will do tons more damage. Andrew was flipping cars already.

Nobody start a flame war yet about global warming???

What's going on here people, come on. I expect more.

It could be worse. Just imagine if climate change actually made these storms more intense.

I will light the fire. Yeah, imagine all the gloom and doom of the most dormant hurricane seasons for the last 10 years since the lie began.
