NOOOOO

It has shifted west, I live at the top of that small circle of water above New Orleans known as Lake Ponchartrain.

They have the storm track coming right over the top of my house all day now 🙁 .

Calling for 15-18 feet of water where I am.

House is only 6 inches above sea level back about a half mile from the lake shoreline.

Only some alligators between me and the storm surge.

Spent the day boarding up the windows.

10pm update is in. The current NHC/NOAA probability tables have NOLA at the 2nd highest total strike probability.😱

Good to see another Mississippian on AT. I'm from Tupelo myself, and I think Schadenfroh is from one of the larger coastal cities.

In Baton Rouge here. I was contemplating just going back "home" to Atlanta for a few days, since LSU's closed Monday...but I'm thinking I might just weather it out.

However, if LSU ends up closing on Tuesday, too, I'll be high-tailing it along the MS coast tomorrow to try and beat out Katrina on my way to Georgia.

thats a very bad idea... LSU most likely wont decide on closing for Tues until Sunday afternoon at the earliest, but even if they did announce it first thing tomorrow morning and you left then, it will take you FOREVER to get anywhere. when ivan threatened NO, it took people over 8-10 hours to get from NO to BR. trying to go from BR to GA will be hell on earth

As a storm battered FL resident take my advice and get the hell out of there. Not only will the storm itself be terrifying the but the weeks after are going to be pure hell (no AC, no power, no water, etc). Get out and enjoy your time away, this is going to be one of the most devistating hurricanes in history hitting probably the most vulnerable city in the US

It is possible that Katrina could get stronger than forecast and perhaps
even reach category five status sometime during the next 36 hours.

Forecaster Knabb

/cues flushing sounds
