wtf is up wiht that?

From what I understand, one of the Seaworld's here on the MS coast were close to the coastline. They were afraid the surges would over take the dolphin tanks, so the dolphins were moved inland to the swimming pools of local hotels.

Also, the director of the facility took the sealions home with him for the night. 😀

heh, that makes more sense...someone posted this on another forum saying it got washed in there...

You know, I wondered the same thing when I heard it on the radio. It seems to be doing well in the picture. 🙂

Thanks for the well-wishes guys. My mom most likely lost her 2 cats. 🙁 At least everyone I know got out, that's most important.

quakefiend, sorry for bitching at you -- just a little stressed! 😉
She didn't take them with her?

They reported on the dolphins on CNN... they were moved there on purpose and the pool was treated to make it the salt water equivalent they are used to (no chlorine to worry about). Apparently all the dolphins (4) are fine and it was a good thing they moved them because the aquarium was hit hard and they would have been killed.

Man, I live in Slidell. I evacuated to my brother's in Houston. I'm getting the feeling that Slidell got hit pretty hard. My house is pretty close to the lake and has (had) tall pines around it. I'm anxious about assessing the damage...

you have insurance, right?
Oops, I was answering this question.
Sorry, I'm sucking at posting right now. I was asking what you do if your house is not liveable? I don't think insurance companies pay to put you up somewhere do they? Anyone been through that kind of thing?

I think a good insurance company would. At least until your house is made habitable again but before it's completely finished of course. That seems logical to me.

It completely depends on what your policy says. Some have it, some don't.

Ahh, that makes sense. The newscaster on the report I heard didn't have this information and asked the same question on air.

Wow, just wow....85-years old. It makes me wonder just how many other people in their situation won't be so lucky to get saved. 🙁

too many...the death toll is gonna be high from this one...i don't even know how to begin to try to estimate something like that...and honestly, with all the corpses that were dead before the hurricane hit floating up...we may never knw how many actually lost their lives in this tragedy 🙁

Speaking of death toll, my local news just reported that 50 deaths have been reported in Harrison County here in Mississippi. Harrison Co. is the central county (out of 3) on the MS coastline and includes the Gulfport area.

As of right now, that brings the number confirmed death in MS to 53. 🙁
