The mods were polite but it isn't going to happen due to concerns of fraud. Sorry guys.

(I have to admit being a bit miffed due to my work address being mentioned in several posts as well as photos of our service vehicles with the company name and number on the side. ah well)

It can still happen. Get conjur to put a link in the blog, and those of us that want to donate still can. He won't have to mention in his sig that he is taking donations, but anyone who wants to click on his signature to access his blog after reading this post is obviously doing it out of free will.

LOL @ foxnews. A guy was trying to drink water out of the streets in NOLA.
Should have just seen the reporter, he stopped in the middle of his live report and told him the water was dirty. He said: "Sir, I'll get you some clean water -- I've got some -- let me finish this and you can have some." The guy acts like he is going to set his jug down, but then he picks it back up and the reporter is like: "Sir, put that down -- it isn't safe!" The goes: "I'm just gonna do some cleaning." The reporter has a blank look on his face and basically mutters what the hell are you going to clean with THAT stuff.

Fox news is entertaining, definetely. But I don't believe a thing they say on there. Always over-sensationalizing everything 🙁

Let me know via PM or something whenever you get it setup. I've sent some to the Red Cross, but I'd love to be able to help Aaron out on a personal mission.

I still don't have broadband back, so I may be gone here in a bit, but I will certainly throw some money toward this.

Conjur, you should update the thread title to "Hurricane Katrina Aftermath" or something like that; she's not a cat 5 anymore.😛

Thanks for the link, conjur. Everyone get off of the pictures site so I can see if anything is left. 😛

You're okay! YAY!

Of course!

I was seriously going to stay though. The only reason I left is because my cousin was following a girl up here to Atlanta.

Oh, and the "stuff the hole" plan for the levies has failed; the new plan is to blast some holes in other leavies to drain some water, then seal the canal that's letting in water in the first place.

I thought they declared martial law yesterday morning, at least in NO. I heard it, and posted it, somewhere in this thread 🙂

That apparently was just a couple of parishes(counties) in that area of LA.

I wish my Army Reserve unit could be called upon right now. Unfortunately, only Congress or the CinC can call us to action for a stateside mission. I would love to go down there and absolutely exhaust myself daily helping people.

From the WWL blog:
9:17 P.M. - E-mail report from viewer Jorge Bravo: My good friend, Mark Ottman, from Berkeley, CA, has been staying at the Fairmont since Friday. I haven't been able to get through to him today, but I did speak to him last night, using the main hotel phone number. He told me that were guests still trapped there, staff, and even families of staff, who have moved into the hotel. He estimated about 1000 people there, with a lot of people camped out in the halls. There's no plumbing, no electricity, no water, and no food. As of last night there was a couple of feet of water on Baronne St.; I suspect it got higher today. I was able to reach the hotel operator again today, but not my friend. The operator said that as of early this afternoon there hadn't been any evacuations. Hope this info helps. I would be grateful for any info you might have.
🙁
