What’ll happen there is what happens in Texas. Smaller insurance companies will offer policies and then go under if there’s a major weather eventIf I were running the loss section of a bank that offers mortgages in FL, I'd be sending all my customers insurance verification letters.
I can see a HUGE problem here going forward as insurance companies either pull out entirely, or raise their rates to where a significant # of current mortgage holders can't make the increased payments.
And then the owners file for bankruptcy, and the costs are shifted to taxpayers in states that aren't affected by the weather events, thereby socializing losses. Magical. What’ll happen there is what happens in Texas. Smaller insurance companies will offer policies and then go under if there’s a major weather event
