Hungover at work

My goodness, I had to go to a work-related event last night that had an open bar, and boy do I feel like hell right now. I'm not usually someone that would drink on a work night, but I definitely drank more than my fair share of alcohol last night. (btw, i only knew one other person there that I would have cared about seeing me drink there, but who left early, so being wasted wasn't a big deal). But I just don't know how to overcome this feeling of nausea this morning...i feel so sick. Anybody here know the best way to start feeling better? God I'm never drinking on a work night again....

Lock yourself in the bathroom and take nap. I always feel better after a nap.

I wish I could do that. But it's impossible to do that here. I feel like such an idiot too, cos it's not that I'm not used to drinking, or that I haven't felt like crap before afterwards, but there's a certain type of hell that involves coming to work the next day. Man, usually I'm such a good girl, but yesterday I guess I got a little outta control....😱

oh man...that's not funny. the sandwich part is fine, but the ashtray makes me feel so sick. :disgust: hehe. But what should I eat? bread or something?

EDIT: i guess fausto answered it. bread it is. geez, thanks everyone, i was just such a flippin idiot yesterday.

The correct move would have been to drink a lot of water LAST NIGHT before you went to bed. The effects of most hangovers can be signifigantly reduced if you get that water into your system before they start. Alcohol dehydrates you and I'm pretty sure thats what causes a hang over.

Pop some advil and eat a couple pieces of toast to settle your stomach. If you can't take a nap...at least try to stay out of the cruel, cruel sun.

My pre-emptive hangover cure is a multivitamin and at least a couple pints of Gatorade. Definitely takes the edge off the pain the next day.

Thing is, I did drink a lot of water yday. And i threw up. sorry for being disgusting. I guess that's why I'm surprised that I still feel like crap today. Maybe it was the combo of what i drank, which i don't even want to think about. But you're right, toast sounds perfect to me. And I will take advil for my mother of all headaches. THanks again!

Eh, eating & drinking might not be the greatest idea, I mean, they'll help... but only if you can keep it down. If you can find any aspirin or ibuprofen (tylenol), take it with a few sips of water

Did you drink any more water after throwing up? I bet you lost a lot of it while vomiting.

That reduces the effects for me, it doesn't get rid of them. If I drank 10 different things the night before, there's going to be a ton of hurting the next day and there's nothing I can do about it. Mixing poisons = bad.

Bigger question is: Do you remember everything that happened last night?

um, apparently I ended up telling this one attorney to stop being a "stick in the mud", cos he is just generally so uptight. I think he took my advice though cos he ended up shimmying on the dance floor with another paralegal.

Do a sick-leave. You said it was a work-related event, so I'm sure your work place will understand right?

my boss has told me & a coworker to go home because of hangover once.
we both were in a bad way from the night before.
he just laughed and said, 'there is worse things in the world than being hungover.'
hes pretty cool once in a while

I disagree. She should take in lots of water. Others seem to agree.

The food thing is a toss up I suppose though. My stomach is usually messed up the next morning and I feel like I won't be able to keep anything down. But after eating, my stomach usually settles down. Just stick with bland stuff like toast.

On the other hand, I hardly ever throw up, even while drinking so this might only work for me. But I tend to think its universal...I think its that old booze rotting in your stomach that makes it queasy, and the toast soaks it up a bit and evens things out again.
