They are moving away from everything that made them great.

I halfway disagree. The H2 and H3 are being sold because it was taking up the manufacturing capacity for the H1s by people buying the good stuff and not using it. The H2 and H3 are image cars. And a smaller chassis isn't always worse. Look at the Wrangler. It can get into places the Hummer can't.

It would be actually be somewhat COOL to me if it was around $30,000 and had the Inline-6. Afterall, this "little" Hummer weighs 4,800 lbs. But this thing has that fuggin' weakass I-5 that is struggling in a 3,895 lb GMC Canyon Crew Cab 4x4

You know that all "real" hummers have 3-speed auto transmission, right? Since the Pentagon brass didn't think too many young Americans could drive a manual.

For 'proper' off-roading you want a Auto as the torque is better when traversing awkward sections - look at the mad swedish glacier climbers they swear by auto's

I think the H3's going to sell like crazy. Think of all the $30K Suburbans/mini vans on the road, now replace them with H3's.

I can see demand outstripping supply very quickly.

I like the fact that it comes with a stick. But I really think they need to make a stripped down model for $25k or less. I hope they end up making the H3T concept a reality. That looked pretty sweet. If the price was right, I'd buy one.

I agree that GM will have big winner with this one, now everyone who wanted the "Hummer" name can have one at a relatively affordable cost (Personally have a hard time jusifying buying something that shares the name with a common sex act, and on a related note why I would have never considered the Ford "Probe")....

I also like it more than the H2, and thanks Demon for clarification on why the H2 and 3 came to being...

Real world testing has shown that the EPA ratings are as much as 40 percent inflated. One proposal calls for adjusting them downward by 26 percent. I wonder how many people would buy an Expedition with a EPA sticker that said 9 mpg? or an Explorer that was rated at 12?

I could live with a H3 (cargo space, passenger room, ammenities, etc). The Rubicon (to me) is about as impractical as a Miata.
