Personally I like the older ones too. But atleast they were trying to use the thing offroad unlike the other 95% of people who only go offroading when they drive down a gravel driveway. ;)

Off-roading is 50% driver skill and 50% vehicle ability. It seems to me that most Hummer owners are rich guys that bought one just to be The First Kid on the Block to have one.

The "stuck" pic; did he get high-centered? Looks that way. That's driver error. Obviously, the passage was too narrow for him to be able to go around the obstacle or go over it w/just one side of the truck...he's a moron for not taking the bypass.

IFS sucks for rock climbing. But other than that, if it's setup properly, it can be just fine on 90% of the trails out there.

Those are GM test guys trying out it's ability, according to the jeepsters site. here is the story

It was a GM test w/ engineers and all. There was a total of 5 of them. I don't think they will test at the Rubicon anymore. Besides not climbing worth a d***, they boiled over with the non pressurized cooling systems. It was funny as the lead managers tried to block my video camera.

There were four H2s and one old one. We talked with one of the guys who said they were out there doing "development". He said Eaton was working on electronic lockers and then said "we" should be releasing them for the dana axles pretty soon.

Here is Chris' Jeepster winching up the Hummer H2. The GM boyz were product testing....failed:

take a look at the rock climbing pics. IFS absolutely sucks for anything other than solid ground.

this is what it should have done. Traction is king with stuff like that. You dont want to have one wheel teetering off the side.

i saw an ad for this. you'd expect it to show the h2 doing some off road goodness and being macho, then maybe cruising into town for an elegant dinner.

nope. its 1 woman driving around downtown, USA, with the line "a whole new way to threaten men."

please. if i wanted to drive around downtown, USA, in somthing that cost $50,000 you'd see me in a 5 series. or maybe i'd save a little money and get a passat w8 4motion.

The H2 isn't an H1. It's quite capable as an offroader, just not a heavy offroader. It'll beat out most every other fullsize SUV on the market, and keep a competitive price. They weren't aiming to improve on the H1, the H1 is expensive. If you're gonna compare the H2 to anything, make it the Suburban/YukonXL and Excursion. The Jeeps and H1 are in another class entirely when it comes to offroading.

Just because someone got stuck with their H2 it doesn't mean that it's not a good offroad car. Plenty of other articles praise it for its offroading abilities. I've driven two H2s on the AM General/GM offroad track that they use to let reporters and such drive the vehicles on. I can say that the H2 faired extremely well, but as expected an H1 will trounce one when the going gets really tough. If you drive the H2 like its an H1 you can get stuck more easily than you'd think. It's sad that so many aren't going to offroad them. Offroading with Hummers is pretty big around here. In fact, my body repair man a couple blocks from my house gets more than half of his business from fixing panels on Hummers.

i konw a vehicle isnt bad because it gets stuck, if you dont get stuck, you arent pushing it hard enough! ;) I say it's bad because it was not designed like the h1 was. This vehicle is for all the CEos out there who want to be outdoorsy, but cant justify the H1 to their wife. She has to be able to park it at the salon, you know.

Is that like...a highly modified Jeep I see that is barely even street legal? And that's a fair comparison to a factory ride that will get ya around town in air-conditioning comfort?
