FYI:

https://www.humblebundle.com/

To The Moon
Joe Danger 2: The Movie
Papo & Yo
Runner2
Reus (unlockable)
Surgeon Simulator(unlockable)

Also some Soundtracks and bonus games to come later.

.

I'll probably get it for 'To the Moon'. For once I'm not interested in the unlockable games. Now just to wait to see if they add on anything I'm interested in.

The average is ridiculously high because of the 1000 Starbound keys that were initially offered as well. Believe it or not, the average has actually come DOWN by about $3 since the bundle started.

From their Site

More games coming soon!

More games will be added to this bundle next Tuesday morning at 11:00am Pacific! If you pay more than the average at your time of purchase, you’ll automatically unlock even more games when they arrive! Keep checking the site and prepare to be surprised and delighted!

@lupi - the reason the price is so high is that for the first 1000 orders there was some kind of bonus (Starbound?).
Earlier the average price was around $10, but it's been coming down since the initial rush for the bonus.

Shady business model by HB. They did this to start the average very high so they can make more money.

I will probably continue to get these bundles, but I know my "Humble Tip" will always be $0 in the future. The devs agreed to this, too, so I'll probably lean the slider more towards charity as well.

I'll be curious to see if they rehash a previous bundle or actually provide fresh content for the halfway extras.

They haven't been impressing me much. I bought 9 for a buck for Mark of the Ninja. Skipped 6-8. Bought into 2 weeklies during that time. Before that, I was loyal to a fault.

I also hate the charity argument to justify their stupid decisions. Charity is a side-effect; I actually give to charities and volunteer when I want to be charitable. I loathe the "but charity" blanket to make it seem like anything they do is great.

With that said, I'll pick this one up as it has enough games that interest me. I'll just wait to see where the average settles out to. Or maybe only put in a dollar at first to help it along.

I love how over $10 is "ridiculously high" - for Shtz&Giggles I added the items to my Steam cart: total $79.
Humble Bundle - those selfish bastards!

It's just as ludicrous to assume someone would buy all those when they're not deeply discounted.

It's like the app price argument vs. a cup of coffee or a burger. But that's not the issue. We expect burgers to cost a certain amount, and apps to cost a certain but different amount.

Same with these bundles. Over time, they've settled into a price range. $10 happens to be almost double that range's maximum. The comparative argument is not the best. It's much easier to see why there would be complaints, the same way there'd be complaints if a Whopper cost $10 on its own with the only difference being one or two insignificant ingredients.

That is my argument - we've become so entitled that we expect ridiculous levels of discount in these bundles. One could make a reasonable argument that any one of those games is worth $10 on its own (for the most part). I only owned one of them, so $10 is still tremendous value - I was even able to gift my extra copy.

And the average is now $6 - so exactly how long did you have to wait for the market to level the value back down?

Your argument ignores my point entirely. And I'm not supporting the people whining about the price. Just providing a counter. And showing your argument to be equally faulty.

Do you buy in bulk and not expect a discount?

I average $5 per humble bundle and this one put me at $6 for starbound keys. Your upset that you had to pay an extra dollar? Not sure if serious. IMHO humble bundles are the greatest thing to happen in gaming. I've even switched over a few console peeps once they see how far a few dollars gets with humble. If they can get a few cheap bastards to fork over a dollar more on average, good on them. I'm happy to pay a lil extra to keep the greatest hotdeals / slickdeals in gaming alive.

If your argument is that *every* Humble Bundle is worth $5 (because that's the typical average) and that's all you should pay, that's like saying a McD's burger and Five Guys burger are essentially the same thing, and should cost the same.

Do you buy in bulk and not expect a discount?

Nope - I just got a pack of good games for $10 - I hear you can even get it for under $6 now!

You seem to be treating the bundles like some generic commodity of "Gaming" that is equal across all bundles.

I considered Surgeon Simulator during the Holiday Sale, but that's the only one I'd care about. I will instead wait to see what next week brings, because I don't think I care enough for the medical version of QWOP.

I tried Reus last night (had it for a while) and I really like it already. Much more intricate than I expected, though it has quite a bit of Civ influence. It gets a little difficult to keep track of what each Giant can do when you start (eg: what different wildlife each one produces in each different terrain) which gets even worse as you unlock the "Aspect" abilities for each one but the results and interaction between them can be very cool. Looking forward to playing more.

For the most part, they are.

They keep the stats of all past bundles on their support page. The price does not fluctuate by much at all. ~10%.

I'm not arguing the "true" value, or what I think these games are worth. I was presenting the reasoning behind people complaining about a $10 price tag.

The fact that people can't seem to grasp that is a little annoying.

And you're seriously telling me you don't buy anything in bulk expecting a discount? I doubt that.

Is Too The Moon sad? The video almost makes it sound like one of those chick-flick tear-jerkers like "The Notebook".

We'll have to disagree on this one then - I think Humble Bundle is so far to the edge of normal pricing that complaining about "Twice as much!" isn't reasonable, especially when the prices settle down to the average or very close within hours.

Yes = I do buy in bulk and do not expect a discount. I was saying the opposite, and that I did get one.

Back to the games!

Is Too The Moon sad? The video almost makes it sound like one of those chick-flick tear-jerkers like "The Notebook".

It tries to be. The game is more of an interactive story than anything, where the player explores the backstory of one of the main characters/subject. The character's life isn't truly incredibly tragic, but it is one filled with regrets.

If you actually play the game, the real 'sadness' for me is the implications of what the doctors 'do' than anything.

Not sure if I need to create spoiler, but just in case.

Their entire job is revolved around creating a fictional memory for the dying person so that their last moment can be spent in a happy illusion.

But the funny thing was that the story initially made it sound like the doctors were there to fulfill a 'wish'. I imagined that it was going to be something similar to Make a Wish Foundation except virtually/inception-like. Like if my wish was to taste chocolate, they would create a fictional memory of me eating chocolate with all the experience of the taste/texture/etc, but allowing me the knowledge of knowing that it was just a virtual memory.

Instead the doctors pretty much destroyed the dying man's past and rewrote it to their liking. They let the dying man live a life filled without his previous regrets and fulfilling a vague interpretation of his 'wish'.
