I'm going to give it a shot once it starts on AMC...looks intriguing just from the few short previews I've seen.

Anyone else watching this?

It reminds me of a upgraded tv version of I, Robot but even better as it has sex bots and they are nice.

It's only on UK tv right now but it will start on AMC on the 28th.

I'm watching it.

I enjoyed the first episode.

I seemed to be too tired to follow the second episode (UK, Last Sunday), and there was too much going on for me to follow it well (while so sleepy).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The concept of the programme, is a VERY interesting one, indeed (in my opinion). Spoiler alert.

(My interpretation of the programme) Buyable robots, approximately the same price as a car, nowadays, are available to purchase. They look and act, just like real, intelligent humans (give or take, the odd difference, here and there). You can tell them to do, whatever you like, however unreasonable, the request is. But they seem to have safety protocol limits.

In the future, maybe tomorrow (probably NOT!), or in 10, 20, 50 ++ years time, this could be a reality.

How on earth we are going to cope, with such robots being readily available, I don't know.

I can imagine someone, spending ALL day, lying on their couch (or in bed), giving orders to their robot(s), all day long.

In a sense, "EVERYONE", or at least those who can afford them, would be a KING with their own kingdom, while in the bounds of their own home and garden(s).

EDIT: Don't disturb me, until much later. Repair my old games console. Write me that new computer game, how I described it to you ,yesterday. Bring me breakfast, Lunch and supper in bed. Finish off the 2^38 Core, 10 GHz cpu processor design, for me. Wash my clothes.
Service my Hover vehicle. Wash my hover vehicle. Refuel my hover vehicle, with flux-capacitors.
Say happy birthday to all my contacts on ATOT. Etc etc.

Not bad into ep2, just wish it wasn't a UK show. As if there wasn't a more annoying accent...

Premier tonight, don't know much as I've only caught a couple seconds on TV ads about it.

I really liked Almost Human - on Fox iirc. It wasn't perfect by any means but I really liked the android. The guy playing the cop had too much of a pulp detective vibe, but he sorta made it work.

Since this show is from AMC I'm guessing it's going to be heavy on the introspection and philosophical aspects rather than straight up scifi. I guess we'll see how that works out. They did a decent job with zombies but apparently the story is based on a comic book series. According to wikipedia this is based on a Swedish scifi series so maybe AMC has got something here.

almost human was great, like a scifi series except with better actors and an actual budget.

I wonder how much them showing the episodes out of order hurt it or if they never really planned to carry it on anyway.

Liked the pilot. Story is anything but original but execution so far has been good... and most of cast is British.

I like the show, although I find it hard to take the actress playing the mother seriously because of The IT Crowd.

I don't understand how did the daughter figure out someone slept with the bot from looking at the manual and what the various codes meant or was it something she remember from the code as she watched the other guy work?

No clue what you're talking about as she hasn't figured anything out yet.

AMC just showed episode 3, sounds like UK is one episode ahead.

Looks like I should avoid this thread.

Then someone should probably get a clue and discuss per the US timeline.

LOL. I've seen her in other things besides IT Crowd, but she's the reason I even started watching this. Liking it so far.

She's grown on me in this role. Interesting casting, because the show is kinda serious, and she is playing it serious, but her interactions with the android are funny. So was everyone thinking she was crazy. I dont know if its because I think she is funny and apply comic sensibilities to all of her scenes, or if those scenes are actually supposed to have some humor.

Shortly before she made her claims, she was looking through the history on her mobile device (which presumably had data from the Synth-Human, gained earlier, maybe when she hooked up to it, if that even worked ?). This apparently (my interpretation) gave her the codes which she looked up in the manual.

But I could easily be wrong.
