Maybe stupid, but he will be remembered a thousand years from now...will you?

Nope I probably wont, what about you?

oooohhh..wow...ZING...or not.

Not really. I'm not criticizing someone for getting into the history books for standing up for themselves.

Dude, that was directed at effee, not you. He seemed to be saying that while he wasn't doing anything neither were you. Just sounded stupid to me.

many of you were probably suckling on your momma's teet when this occurred. Do you even understand what this guy was doing? If not, then you probably should reserve judgement.

Effee, do some research on the topic before you go trying to be a board troll...

He was never about to be run over, as the Tank driver wouldn't do it... he even climbed up atom the lead tank and had words with the driver...

This guy had the tenacity to stand up for what he believed in and took it to an extreme that so many of us these days hardly ever imagine. This is way beyond bravery or honor. I doubt that there is even a word for what he did in any language under the sun.

The teens and low twentysomethings of my day will remember this guy for a VERY long time, as will history.

You call him stupid... sigh. Just a sign of what todays younger generation see in history I suppose.

I have always found that picture inspiring. I was a senior in HS in 1989, and that photo is in our yearbook, IIRC. Recently I went to a "Sharepening your Supervisor Skills" class and that photo was used to illustrate leadership.

From what I know, nobody knows what happened to this guy but the current consensus is that the government took him away and "reeducated" him.

If you consider standing up for what you believe in and becoming a legend in the process of bringing attention to what you believe to be an injustice only to produce one of the most recognized and moving photo's of all time stupidity than you my friend, are definately not blessed with smartidity.

then this just shows how fvcking stupid you really are.

You take a picture that is famous for showing true bravery and standing for what you believe in and call it stupid.

really amazing just amazing. Next time take 5 minutes to do a quick search about something before you make a fool out of yourself to thousands of people.

If I were the tank driver I would inch forward slowly. I think if the tank got closer and closer and finally knocked him down and started to roll over his feet he might change his mind and move.

My vote goes for stupidly bravely or bravely stupid. Either way it was pretty brave.

Definately brave in my book. That took serious guts, and as others have said, the picture was seen by millions, so it influenced many people.

For all those who called him brave and heroic, how would you feel if that happened in America and that guy blocking the tank was Communist?

Note - I do not in any way support Communism. I'm just curious.

Happens all the time in the US. Look at the leadup to the last election.
