Hulu Plus is not a replacement for Hulu.com. Hulu Plus is a new, revolutionary ad-supported subscription product that is incremental and complementary to the existing Hulu service. For almost all of the current broadcast shows on our service, Hulu Plus offers the full season. Every single episode of the current season will be available, not just a handful of trailing episodes. Now there's never a bad time to jump in on a hot new show like Modern Family (which I recommend highly). From Family Guy to Glee, from The Office to 30 Rock, from Grey's Anatomy to Desperate Housewives, from Parks & Recreation to Parenthood, from House to Saturday Night Live, and dozens of other hits, the best time to jump in on any series is any time, and with any episode, that's right for you.

Doesn't appear to have Android support yet.

I guess its popularity will boil down to its catalog and how long/intrusive the ads end up being.

Hmm... might try it for one month on my iPad (I don't have cable/satellite service) but Android support would have been nice.

Wait, so they are charging $10/month and you will still get ads?

I don't know why people are so shocked by this. Have you bought a newspaper? A DVD? A magazine? Have you used a TV with cable? Lots of things that you pay for still have ads. The ads -in theory at least- just subsidize the costs down.

EDIT:

As someone on another forum put it:
Um, of COURSE subscription with ads.

You're basically getting like a mini cable subscription where you can watch whatever you want anytime. How do you think these companies make money? Off of ads and revenue from the cable providers.

This isn't some .99 cent app that doesn't have ads cause you paid for it and it took a few weeks to make.

Some perspective, folks.

It says in the video, in addition to your computer, so I am guessing there is still going to be a Flash client. Anyways, $10 a month is a bit steep for ad supported TV on a tiny screen, especially since it'll likely eat into your 3G bandwidth cap pretty quickly.

Right but you can then watch on your set top box as well. Hopefully they're not too restrictive on the number of devices and handle it like Netflix.

$10/month does seem a bit steep. I guess I'd need to see the full catalog of what's available before I'd know whether it's worth it to me or not. But at face value, Netflix still seems like a better deal.

Needs more than just every episode of the current season. I wouldn't mind a rotating back catalog where each season of a particular show is available for x number of weeks in addition to the current season.

Color me interested when the get an Android app, but I would rather just have netflix. I just don't see myself paying another monthly fee when I already pay for cable and netflix.

Here is a walkthrough of their new iPhone app:

Looks pretty slick, and I will test out the quality when I get home to see how it looks in 3G vs. Wifi. Hopefully it will be as good as the ABC and Netflix apps.

Seems like just yesterday people were complaining about how the lack of flash meant no hulu on iOS. Low and behold the Hulu app beats out Adobe's hardware-accelerated flash release for mobile phones.

Probably not going to find enough suckers to pay $9.99 when one can just go to the networks' websites and watch full episodes for FREE using Flash.

Yea, because going to a website and watching it through flash will give you better battery life and video quality than a dedicated app.

There is going to be an Android port at some point; Hulu folks are not stupid. I can't wait until that happens and see how quickly you change your tune.

Weak rebuttal is weak.
Decoding video is decoding video, whether you do it in Flash app or iPhone app, it's going to consume battery power. If anything, Flash will be optimized for the graphics core, should be more efficient. I'd be more concerned about running out of your AT&T bandwidth limit and having to pay $10/GB, how many 720p shows is that?

dwell was saying there is no Android port, not even on the horizon. You guys hash it out. :D

Good job, now go to a comic shop, find a group of young people with Android devices (there is bound to be one, otherwise try a D&D convention), proceed to sit next to them and watch a show on Hulu. Preferably a commedy so you can LOL and attract attention to the fact that you are watching a show on Hulu, and Android users can't

Yes it's a parody of the below thread:

Hulu is blocking Android, not that there is anything in Android stopping Hulu from working. I can just go to fox.com or nbc.com and watch what I want on a Flash plug in.

Dude seriously do you ever stop? You're the worst around here for any fanboy. No one is as bad as you. Every thread you post in, you turn it into a flamebait.

I just got the app, and the quality -even over 3g- is surprisingly good. Definitely cool!

This actually explains why Hulu is blocking Android Flash player access. Who is going to pay $9.99/month if they can just go on the website and use the Flash version for free?

You don't seem to understand what is happening here. Hulu has said their free site will continue to exist. Paying the $10/month will apparently just give you a wider/deeper (all episodes rather than just the latest 3-4) selection.
