I was wondering what do you guys think about the hulk previews. That have been running all I can say is that it does'nt look realistic I was talking to some guys that are comin book junkies and they said they don't remember him being able to do all of the stuff that the previews are showing.

Apparently, the negative reaction to the SuperBowl trailer really concerned Ang Lee. But here's what Newsweek had to say:

Listen to the man, Ang. The Hulk in ?The Hulk? is arguably the most challenging CGI character ever attempted?a thinking, feeling monster who grows from nine to 12 to 15 feet depending on the size of his tantrum, runs 100mph, leaps three miles and tosses tanks like toy cars?but Lee and ILM have pulled it off. The creature actually gets more impressive as Hulk emerges from darker settings into the light of day, culminating with a showstopping set piece in the Mojave Desert. (Gollum was great, sure, but he resided in a fantasy world, not ours. He was also a wuss.)

yup, u gotta remember gollum is an animated corpse. it doesn't compare to trying to cgi a human:)

Never read the comics, just watched the TV series. The TV series was rather realistic, so realism seems kinda important to me. Anyway, doesn't the Hulk in this movie look a lot like Shrek?

realistic? what do you mean by realistic for something originated from comic book? funny ... i thought movies is another channel for us, human being to be closer to our fantasy of becoming a super strong, super cool, super smart, super rich and super etc etc etc...

No, that Hulk doesnt look like a Shrek at all .. it looks like the Hulk.

The TV series was only "realistic" because they had neither the budget nor ability to make it closer to the comic book.

That being said, I enjoyed the TV show (what I saw of it) as well as the comic books. I definitely plan on seeing the movie. Lou Ferigno (who played the Hulk character in the TV show) has a cameo in the movie as a security guard.

yes, he was. the tv series never could depict the hulk the way he was in the comics.

:D

Of course "realistic" is a relative term, let's say believableish instead. I'm going to have a very difficult time watching this movie.

So turning into a big, green, super strong monster when you get pissed off (due to being caught at ground zero of a Gamma Bomb detonation) is believable? ;)

:D Of course!

My biggest problem with it is not that people can't turn green and muscular. It's that in the TV show the Hulk looked like an actual person, not Shrek interacting with humans ala Who Framed Roger Rabbit. ;)

i think this is the most well-done comic book movie from the past few that have come out.
well done meaning no cheesy lines (storm in xmen) and no lack of character development (daredevil)

one thing you will appreciate is the way ang lee directed this movie. the angles and shots as well as the way the movie is presented is amazing. i found myself appreciating this more than once. a few times, you feel like you are actually reading a comic book. reminds me a lot of batman...dark themes...overall a good movie.

yeah yeah...a non-cgi hulk would be nice...but hulk is 1040 pounds and 7(?) ft tall.

I think that the Hulk from the old TV series looks better then the computer animated junk they have now.

Looks to fake.

I don't know how it will look in theaters, but my copy is unfinished with missing textures on Hulk and a tendency for disappearing pants. I think I got ripped off. ;)

you are joking?

I think he means its just that the use of CGI ruins it. They should have used a man in a suit. They are using WAYY too much CGI these days. Its still not up to snuff for some things. Good for 3D cartoons, but not yet integrating that much animation into real life sets.

I'm sorry that a lot of you are obsessed that this isn't the Hulk you remember from the TV show, but NEWS FLASH! Hulk used to be a comic book before it became a TV show and the only reason that tv show didn't have a massive Hulk is because the technology didn't exist at the time. It's obvious that Ang Lee is making an adaptation of the comic book rather than the TV show.

The movie's already gotten 2 thumbs up, it's got an amazing director at the helm, the CG looks incredible (seriously, how real do you expect a 12 foot green monster to look?) and it looks like it's going to be a hell of a ride.

As far as Ang Lee having something to do with "that garbage"... you know, how many times have you seen a trailer where the movie looked great and it turned out to be just okay, or worse. Ang Lee knows what he's doing. Hey, if it sucks, I'll be the first to admit it. But I'm optimistic at this point.
