HUH>?

Now that I got you to click on the link I have a question.

How do I get my processor to run at full power all the time, I have a 1.73 Centrino and the stupid Intel speed stepping keeps slowing it down.

I have messed with the power settings, that doesn't matter, I think I saw some software that allows you to do this.....help a homie out

Now that I think about it the adavanced power saving abilities of the P-M is what makes it so atractive why change that.

Yeah that's not helping but thanks, I want it to run at full speed while plugged in.

I think there is some type of software that will modify the settings for you.

What are you talking about??? as long as you are running it and using an application that needs the cpu power it should stay pegged....I run FH on my laptop all the time and I haven't messed with the speedstepping at all and it runs full board all the time. I know this cause it is pulling fast times on same units I am getting in other PCs....

Yes I am positive it's not on full when plugged in.

anyone know of this software that's out there, I know I saw something about on here just a couple weeks ago.

<<Mobile Intel® Pentium® 4 Processors - M supporting Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® technology lets you customize high performance computing on your mobile PC. When the notebook computer is connected to the AC outlet, the new mobile PC runs the most complex business and Internet applications with speed virtually identical to a desktop system. When powered by a battery, the processor drops to a lower frequency (by changing the bus ratios) and voltage, conserving battery life while maintaining a high level of performance. Manual override lets you boost the frequency back to the high frequency when on battery, allowing you to customize performance.>>

I think this is what yuou are looking for and I believe I have manual overridden it before on my centrino 1.5...so it should be easy to change in the control panel....

So basically plugged in it should always run max speed...batteries it will downclock...

Here you go....

http://www.intel.com/technology/itj/200...e02/art03_pentiumm/p11_performance.htm

you have to go to power options and turn "always on" on....

All system run the Windows* XP* operating system. The operation modes used are as follows:

* Always On (Max Frequency) max all the time...should reduce batery ylife to 1/2 of what it does now
* Portable/Laptop (Adaptive Frequency) meaning max on AC speedstepped on batteries
* Maximum Battery (Min Frequency)

All scores are normalized to the Intel Mobile Pentium 4 Processor - M (orange bar) score. The efficiency?performance over power?is obtained from the benchmark performance score divided by the average processor power for the duration of that benchmark.

Always On Mode

In the Always On mode the processor always runs at its highest frequency. This mode is mostly used when the system is connected to an AC power source. This mode demonstrates the inherent performance and power-awareness of the Intel Pentium M processor without utilizing the Enhanced Intel SpeedStep®

Thanks but that's not what I want either.

I want the software that you can run from windows that let's you change your speeds of the intel speed stepping.

OK I found what I needed, nobody who answered seemed to have any clue, so check out speedswitch xp and also centrino hardware control. The two programs I listed do what I needed thanks.

Change your power settings to always home/desktop computer. That should make it run at 100% CPU speed on the AC adapter.

This does not make a diference with the Intel speedstep process, it doesn't matter if you enable all your power settings to always on. You can be on AC power and have all power settings maxed, the speed stepping will still decrease your speed.

Not according to the link I provided you straight from INtel's site...Again I have been running for weeks F@H with AC plug...24/7....and it has never slowed down as I check the frame times as compared to my other PCs all the time.

FU!!! Learn how to phrase your question right....How could we have interpreted you question any other way from this...

How do I get my processor to run at full power all the time, I have a 1.73 Centrino and the stupid Intel speed stepping keeps slowing it down.

And I answered this and INtel answered this and I have no problem with it...Again FU for your attitude. Go get help somewhere else next time....

Look for XP SpeedStep. Free little proggie that will keep it at 100% on AC power and go back to dynamic switching when running on battery.

I will check it out thanks, the Centrino HW control program is working well, it has some nice little options on it as well.
