I can't stand NOT having mouse gestures. I hate having to navigate to the top left to hit the "back" button or even right click and be precise in clicking on "back".

Thumb button on my mouse ftw! Quicker and easier then any other method.

I use the tiltwheel which i think is a bit quicker. e-penis

Thinkpads have a back key.

I use windows + e and windows + d all the time. Windows + r too.

ctrl+tab and ctrl+shift+tab ... forward and backwards respectively.

one of my favs (well, a combination) is - say there's something i want to googlesearch, like "mrSHEiK124"

so i'll highlight "mrSHEiK124"
ctrl+c - copy (duh)
ctrl+t - new tab
ctrl+k - quicksearch bar
ctrl+v - paste (duh)
enter

optionally, after paste you can press ctrl+arrowdown to choose the search engine (google/ebay/wiki/imdb)

Sounds drawn out, usually I'll just highlight, right click, and search :p

Why not just use gestures for things like refreshing, opening new windows and tabs, closing tabs, etc.?

Because gestures are annoying as hell?

Backspace has meant "back" since browsers were invented.

Pretty much the same number as Firefox, or less...
