Is there something in the water these days that cause girls to start puberty sooner?
It is also hypothesized that girls are developing earlier due to growth hormones fed to animals. This remain in the meat and dairy products that we consume. That is why girls are going through puberty earlier. I haven't researched this at all however. I'm sure that are peer-reviewed studies of the topic.
Interesting.

These effects are well documented in Japan. Do some research.. It's pretty interesting.
With the introduction of the daily glass of estrogen and progesterone, the average age of the beginning of menstruation declined over ~25 years by some 3 years... from 15 to 12.. :Q

It is a good thing that you turned down this proposal.
Guys who do the horizontal tango with 14-year-old girls often end up behind bars, getting "proposed" by a 300-pound biker named Bubba.

In the 1800s the legal age was as low as twelve years old for females. Modern statutes ordinarily provide that females may marry at age sixteen and males at age eighteen. Sometimes a lower age is permitted with the written consent of the parents. A number of states allow for marriage below the minimum age if the female is pregnant and a judge gives permission.
