Actually, women have told me that I make them feel safe. My last real g/f (Julie, not the crazy ex) told me that I had her at that first hug... Right arm over her left shoulder, left arm around her waist, pull her firmly against you with constant pressure and full body contact, and hold the hug for just slightly longer than you think you should. When you let go, do so almost reluctantly, as in you lift your arms away from her and let her step out of it.

Guys, don't underestimate the power and effect of a good hug.

I don't really hug often enough to remember which side is typical though.

think about it. you're facing opposite directions so you go to your right and they also go to thier right. i think most people go to the right.
 
my head normally gravitates towards the chest area for some reason. (assuming we are hugging women since I do not hug men)
