Like many, I have been unable to sync my WindowsMobile phone with Vista. Well, problem is solved!

First, I established a link via USB. Then I did the following:

I created an incoming Com port using the bluetooth control panel (under the COM Ports tab). Named the port COM3. Then I went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE
Services\SerialPort and changed the value from BlueTooth to COM3

Then I restated and I was able to sync!!

Taken from here:

http://www.qusers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6386&highlight=vista

There is a setting in the registry which defines the COM port used for
syncing. The value is 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE
Services\SerialPort'
When using bluetooth with ActiveSync this is set to the value of the
incoming COM port. In WMDC this has changed so that the value now is
'Bluetooth' which in turn points to other settings in the registry. This does
not seem to work properly yet.

I found out that this value stilll works as it does in ActiveSync. If you
change it from 'Bluetooth' to the name of the incoming COM port, your PDA
should now see the service required for the Bluetooth syncing. (reboot may be
necessary)

This is interesting... does everything work well so far? There has been no WM5 devices that interest me so far, so probably not useful for me as I will wait for that perfect all in one which will probably be WM6 by then...

Yes it works perfectly, but I don't know why Windows Vista would ship without this ability in the first place.
