Huge slowdown when running Office

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o00_s00_i00

My gf has this little netbook linked above and I've done everything in my power to clean all the crap off it trying free up resources, but I can't get most office programs to run without it slowing down to a crawl.

I even updated the ram to 2gigs with little effect on performance. I don't have much experience with netbooks, but is it your guys opinion it's just to slow to run office or should I keep digging trying to free up resources?

Edit: She's got Office 2010 on there.

With an Atom CPU and only 2GB of RAM, I think running a heavy office suite like MS Office is never going to amount to what you could call a good experience performance wise.

The whole idea behind netbooks, though it seems to have gotten lost along the way, is that you use web based apps like Google's little office suite or Microsoft's attempt to ape it with Office Live or 365 or whatever they're calling it this week.

That said, you could try a somewhat lighter weight word processor such as AbiWord or even just WordPad which is honestly more than enough word processor for the vast majority of people. If she needs the rest of the office suite, then you're probably going to have to decide between a slow MS Office and using something like Google Office.
