HUGE problem with CUV4X...(well at least I think so)

A frind of mine just bought a new system;

ASUS CUV4X
PIII 700E FCPA (cb0)
128 MB PC133 Samsung
IBM 75GXP 30 GB
Samsung 48X
SB Live! 1024
ASUS 7100 MX
10 mbit Ethernetcard


We´ve tried to install win2000, win98 OSR2 and WIN98 "rev 1" with no luck at all. It freezes just before I´m about to type the serial in Win98, and 5 secs of reading drivers of the WIN2000 CD. Tried another videocard, another CDROM, removed soundcard and ethernetcard. (Memory works great in my machine now also, btw ) No luck at all!

I´m about to send this baby back soon, just wanted to check if you guys had any simular problems. I recon it could be the motherboard, but hey...it works flawlessly accept from this "tiny" little thing .

Well, thats about it. Any ideas?

I have had problems aswell with that board. I put one together with a cellry 566, voodoo 3 2000 and SB live value and the thing wouldn't recognize my chip. Took it back and got a new mobo but now it hangs, so we tried some different ram (micron) and it still hangs after about 24 hours. we finally took it in to get looked at because we got tired of screwing with it. I have seen people post about the SB drivers and coppermines compatability so you might want to get the latest drivers for your sound card.

I should get mine back today, I hope that thing works because I built it for my parents and I'm thinking that pretty soon they are going to think I'm a bone head.

Thanks for your reply, Stallion. But the thing is that it doesnt even work without soundcard either. It´s not a heatproblem either, just smacked an Orb at the CPU, didn´t help. Damn I hate bad hardware .

i dont have any problem too with cuv4x, try to change your bios, may be it's can help u out
