Where's the leader stroke that was under his carport? How did he see it? Is it in the picture?

I believe he was thrown up in the air by the leader stroke, and he was lucky that the bolt came down another leader stroke, not his.

But he implies that he saw the leader stroke in the photo....

that pic looks quite cropped. I am guessing it is in the original, but this is the cropped version to fit the calendar.

fast forward 20 yrs, mowed the lawn, came in house barefoot, standing on tile floor, opened oven up ayt the very moment a bolt hit the power transformer just outside. the surge carried thru the grounding wires into stove handle. Paramedisc treated me for 3 burned rt hand fingers and 4 crispy black rt ft toes...told me I was lucky not to have gotten the surge across chest, only down. Knocked me back 10ft, woke up on the kitchen table still hiolding the lasagna.

I have a healthy respect for mothernatures fireworks.

Glad you're OK. I've got a few buddies who were hit.

That whole "struck by lightning" seems more common than one thinks.

Then again you may one of those guys who get hit many times.

I know someone that knows a lot about lightning and can chew your ear off with stories and stuff. Fascinating! :)

I think the leader stroke he is talking about is the faint purple lightning emanating in front of the left palm tree. If you look at it, it starts from the ground but stop halfway in the photo. It's damn close to him.

That's awesome. Never seen lightning so close before. Surprised there aren't any sparks or any of that Hollywood stuff coming out of the house.
