This is very cool... for you mozilla/firebird/nutscrape users, go to "about:config", and set network.http.pipelining to true. You can play with the other pipelining settings too. I noticed a large performance difference.

You should leave the firstrequest pref false to bo most compatible with HTTP 1.0 servers, but I guess you could try it out also.

I just tried it, don't see any amazing improvements, the google ads here still take forever to load, slashdot didn't seem noticeably faster. Do I have to restart?

I just tried it and it SEEMS to be faster, but that might just be my imagination. I used to have this tweak along with another one (something about the browser waiting 25ms before rendering the page...) but I lost them after I uninstalled 0.6 to install 0.61. :p Thanks for the tip.

Try it. I don't think so. You know if you go to texturizer.net/firebird and go to the tips, ad-blocking... use their usercontent to block google ads too :)

edit: they delay you're talking about is 250ms, not 25. I didn't notice the difference when I changed it to 0.

edit2: oh, i did it wrong. It does make a difference also.

There are a number of tweaks possible for FB. The help site has a Tips and Tricks section that has some more, including how to eliminate the rendering delay.

If you don't want to edit the user.js, these options can also be adjusted through about:config or the Preferential extension.

Note that these adjustments can lower stability slightly, so if you have any problems, I'd suggest you switch back.
