Huge overheating problem

I have recently noticed slow down on my pc while running video games. after trying a bunch of stuff i looked at my cpu/gpu temps. they are both running at a staggering 60/75c in idle mode at my desk top with no programs running. Im wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what the problem could be maybe a mobo issue or some people on a different site were saying possible PSU problems (though my PSU is fairly legit).

Have you opened up your case to take a look? Make sure all the fans are spinning.

yeah sorry i should have mentioned that i blew out the fans and the case with compressed air today.

What are the exact temps for which parts? And what are the temps under load (note, don't exceed 90C on the CPU and 105C on the GPU, if they get close to that high just shut down whatever program you're using).

might be time for fresh heatsink grease and a thurough cleaning and disassembly. When heat builds up its becuase something is insulating vrs trasmitting.

under load the CPU is upwards of 100 so i dont even bother running programs at this point as for GPU im not sure since im scared the cpu will get too hot but i would bet that it is also running upwards of 100 since its running so hot at idle

Mr k, my CPU temp is 76C and my GPU temp is 75C. the gpu temp is consistent the cpu temp will drop about ten degrees if i don't use firefox for like 10 minutes or so

reapply Theramal grease and make sure it's applied correctly. It's not a PSU issue. When a PSU is the problem, either the PSU will shut down/explode violently or the part will shut down/explode violently. PSU problems have nothing to do with the temperature of computer parts. Also make sure it's not hot as balls in your room.

airflow problem almost certainly. Confirm by leaving side panel off and see what happens to temps, and visually verify that the fans spin.

BTW.....are you running the stock Intel heatsink? Overclocking at all?

While all the previous is quite true.....bad airflow, bad thermal interface, etc., a stock Intel heatsink isn't exactly going to give you low 30C idle temps, either.
