"Huge" Exclusive Announcement in next month's PC Gamer!

So, I got March's PC Gamer, and supposedly, April's is s'posed to be really cool and everything. Here's the summary describing next issue:


Is it? Could it be? It is!!! Our cover story in April will be that world exclusive announcement of a game that's so secret that our fingers will be cut off if we revealed the name here. We know you're dying for clues, so here are two: It's part of a series and it has bears...nice try but it's not The Golden Compass 2! What? Godless Killing Machine III: The Fury Unleashed? Not even close. Boy you guys are really bad at this.

So if this really is world exclusive, who knows? I'm tempted to say Guild Wars 2, but PC Gamer already announced that in a march issue 2007.

Part of a series means it could be anything. Then again, they said that magazine that announced Far Cry 2 would be like this: Text


And Far Cry 2 had already been announced for a while before that blurb from PC Gamer came out, so I don't know if I should expect anything.

And the relevance was that trees could be set on fire.

...and this game "features bears"

lol, maybe. I don't know, I hate it when they overhype shit, and then it turns out to be something that either was announced a month back, or something that is so completely meh, that it sucks.
I remember the last big blurb where they said something hyping was actually cool, was when they said you'd need pampers for their next announcement; it was Medieval 2 Total War...I did.

Itll be something stupid like final fantasy XVIIIIXXX or whatever. Either way, it wont be as big as the announcement that blizzard were making starcraft 2! That was awesome... telling all the people who said "starcraft is dead" and "theyre focusing on warcraft now" and "theyre not making another sc game, deal with it" that THEY WERE WRONG HAHA!!! Oh yes... fantastic.

Too many "Meh" quality games have been hyped beyond reality.

The more they hype a game now, the more i want to see a review before i buy it. Too bad the world is filled with enough idiots to keep "hype" marketing profitable.

For truth. I subscribed back in '96 and things were ok for a while, but all the good staff left, and I killed my sub about when Vederman became editor, around the 2000 mark, because the whole thing just got too ridiculously juvenile and were always a good 6-8 weeks behind the internet on content. The writing steadily declined in any kind of quality as well.

Please, that dude had to wait until the owners fired all the experienced people before he could get a shot.
Yes, they were a little overpaid, but they did good work. The Vede was best left to the pits of mediocrity.

They totally fudged up the format, it ended up being a giant mess like all the other gaming mags.
The writers churned out crap too.

Sad. They were it back in the DOS and Win95 days. Everyone else was always trying to play catch up with them.
 
I miss Next Generation magazine. Remember that?? They typically were pretty thick and was chock full of great interviews, writing..etc. Reviews weren't great but you didn't get Next Gen for that.
